Erwin B. Bellers - Fremont CA, US
International Classification:
G06Q 40/00
US Classification:
705 4
Abstract:
A system and method for generating a health insurance explanation of benefits for a patient is provided for receiving one or more adjudicated claims from a health insurance company; analyzing the one or more claims in relation to patient information stored in a patient records database; and generating a personalized message to the patient about the patient's health care based on the stored patient information and the adjudicated claims. The personalized message, applied to an EOB generation system associated with the health insurance company, forms a part of an enhanced EOB to be provided to the patient.

Assignee:
Entropic Communications, Inc. - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04N 5/21
US Classification:
348607, 348624
Abstract:
Image data is processed to produce an output using a frame insertion approach. According to an example embodiment, frames are generated for video data, based upon the video data and the presence (or absence) of artifacts in the video data. In one application, a dynamic frame insertion approach is used to selectively generate peaked and blurred video frames in a manner that mitigates undesirable display and/or enhancement of artifacts by tuning down or turning off the generation and/or insertion of video frames.

Temporal Fallback For High Frame Rate Picture Rate Conversion

US Patent:
2011012, Jun 2, 2011
Filed:
Mar 6, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/936511
Inventors:
Erwin Bellers - Fremont CA, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/00
US Classification:
348614, 348E05001
Abstract:
An apparatus to provide a fall-back procedure for a PRC imaging device is described. The apparatus includes a PRC controller, a system resource monitor, and a PRC setting calculator. The PRC controller outputs a stream of images at an adjustable temporal rate. The adjustable temporal rate is constrained within a range defined by a first predetermined rate and a second predetermined rate. The system resource monitor obtains a measurement of system resource utilization. The PRC setting calculator determines a setting for the PRC controller in response to the measurement of system resource utilization. Additionally, the PRC controller determines a value for the adjustable temporal rate in response to the setting.

Image Segmentation Based On Block Averaging

US Patent:
2006007, Apr 6, 2006
Filed:
Dec 5, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/545842
Inventors:
Stephen Herman - Monsey NY, US
Erwin Bellers - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS N.V. - BA Eindhoven
International Classification:
G06K 9/40
US Classification:
382254000
Abstract:
A method and system for improving the quality of a video image () segmented into a plurality of blocks () of known size is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of associating a value to each of said blocks and altering said associated value corresponding to a selected one of said blocks when each of said associated values of blocks adjacent to said selected block is different than said selected block associated value. The block value is a first value when said block probability function is greater than a threshold value, otherwise it a set as a second value.

Stephen Herman - Monsey NY, US
Erwin Bellers - Fremont CA, US
International Classification:
G06K 9/34
US Classification:
382173000
Abstract:
A method () and system () for adaptively segmenting pixel elements in an image frame is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of segmenting pixel elements into at least one first region based on a selection criteria (), refining the selection criteria () based on information associated with each of the pixel elements within an associated first region and segmenting () the image pixel elements into at least one second region based on said refined selection criteria ().

Dec 10, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/545841
Inventors:
Erwin Bellers - Fremont CA, US
Jan Caussyn - Maldegem, BE
Assignee:
Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. - BA Eindhoven
International Classification:
H04N 9/74, H04N 5/14, H04N 9/64
US Classification:

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for thinning lines in a video, includes providing a line signal () of a video, the line signal () having pair of spaced apart transitions () which slope toward one another and merge at an edge () of a first thickness, the first thickness of the edge generating a line of a given width in the video. At least one of the transitions () is moved toward a center of the edge (), to produce a new line signal () having an edge () of a second thickness which is less than the first thickness, thereby reducing the given width of the line in the video.
