Platform-Top Radius Belt And Modules

US Patent:
2003013, Jul 24, 2003
Filed:
Jan 31, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/066038
Inventors:
Errol Knott - Gonzales LA, US
Christopher Verdigets - Ponchatoula LA, US
R. Dailey - Destrehan LA, US
International Classification:
B65G015/02
US Classification:
198/831000
Abstract:
A platform-top modular radius belt capable of conveying articles along a conveying path that includes straight and curved segments. The belt is constructed of a series of rows of belt modules hingedly interconnected by hinge pins received in aligned apertures formed in interleaved hinge elements of adjacent belt rows. A product support platform is attached to intermediate belt module structure to form a generally continuous article-conveying surface. An overhang forms an extension of the conveying surface and extends over hinge elements along one end of the row to form a gap between the overhang and the hinge elements. An edge portion of the product support platform extends from and is recessed below the level of the conveying surface. The recessed edge of a belt row is received in the gap of an adjacent row below the overlying overhang without interference to allow the inside edge of the modular platform-top belt to collapse at the inside of a turn.

Modular Plastic Conveyor Belt Suitable For Tight Turns

US Patent:
7070043, Jul 4, 2006
Filed:
Jun 8, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/160096
Inventors:
Gilbert J. MacLachlan - Chalmette LA, US
R. Scott Dailey - Destrehan LA, US
Richard M. Klein - Slidell LA, US
Errol P. Knott - Gonzales LA, US
Assignee:
Laitram, L.L.C. - Harahan LA
International Classification:
B65G 17/06
US Classification:
198853, 198778
Abstract:
A modular plastic conveyor belt having an A-shaped edge portion in belt edge modules along each belt row for tight collapse of the belt at the inside of a turn. The A-shaped region comprises two alternating series of laterally spaced links, each extending from opposite ends of the edge module. Each of the first series of links forms an acute angle measured clockwise from the direction of belt travel. Each of the second series of links forms an acute angle measured counterclockwise from the direction of belt travel. The angles decrease monotonically with distance inward of the first side of the belt edge. Laterally extending webs join the ends of consecutive converging links along an end of the module. The lateral extent of the webs increases monotonically inward from a first side edge of the belt. A cross bars extends between each pair of web-joined links.

Conveyor Belt Module With Fixed Axles

US Patent:
2012029, Nov 29, 2012
Filed:
Dec 15, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/327429
Inventors:
Gilbert J. MacLachlan - Harahan LA, US
David C. Weiser - River Ridge LA, US
Abraham L. Miller - Gulfport MS, US
Errol P. Knott - Gonzales LA, US
Timothy J. DeRoche - Harahan LA, US
Jude G. Martin - Laplace LA, US
Assignee:
LAITRAM, L.L.C. - Harahan LA
International Classification:
B65G 17/24, B29C 45/14
US Classification:
198779, 264255
Abstract:
A modular roller-top conveyor belt and rollers for the belt. The roller-top belt has axles that are fixed relative to the module body. Each of the pieces of the multi-piece rollers can be installed radially onto an axle and joined together in a puzzle pattern to form a complete roller that can rotate on the axle. Parallel ridges extending across the width of the modules add stiffness to the belt.

Modular Conveyor Belts And Attachments

US Patent:
7494006, Feb 24, 2009
Filed:
Jun 7, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/160049
Inventors:
Errol P. Knott - Gonzales LA, US
R. Scott Dailey - Destrehan LA, US
Richard M. Klein - Slidell LA, US
Gilbert J. MacLachlan - Chalmette LA, US
Assignee:
Laitram, L.L.C. - Harahan LA
International Classification:
B65G 17/06, B65G 17/38
US Classification:
198850, 198853
Abstract:
A modular conveyor belt and belt attachment members that are retained by hinge rods. The attachment members have a body with opposite outer and base surfaces. Interaction elements, such as high-friction surfaces, plates, or holddown wings, extend from the outer surface. The base surface mounts flush against a conveying surface or an opposite surface of the belt. Legs extend directly from the base surface into gaps between hinge elements extending longitudinally outward of conveyor belt modules forming the belt. Feet at distal ends of the legs hook under hinge rods to retain the attachment member firmly in place. The lateral spacings between the legs are related to the geometry of the hinge elements to register the attachment element with respect to the belt.

Modular Plastic Conveyor Belt With High Beam Strength

US Patent:
6837367, Jan 4, 2005
Filed:
Nov 5, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/605902
Inventors:
Richard M. Klein - Slidell LA, US
Lynell M. Duhon - New Orleans LA, US
Errol P. Knott - Gonzales LA, US
Assignee:
Laitram, L.L.C. - Harahan LA
International Classification:
B65G 1706
US Classification:
198853, 198852
Abstract:
A modular plastic conveyor belt having a central beam along each belt row. The beam extends laterally across the width of a belt row and includes a linear portion in a middle region of the belt and a sinuous region near both side edges of the belt. In the linear region, the beam includes a portion of constant thickness with linearly tapering portions toward the side edges of the belt. In this way, the thicker portions of the beam in the middle of the belt provide beam strength to allow less frequent support beneath the belt and the thinner sinuous portions at the edges of the belt give it the flexibility and mobility to collapse at the inside of a turn.
