Apparatus For The Electrodynamic Separation Of Non-Ferromagnetic Free-Flowing Material

Apparatus For The Electrodynamic Separation Of Non-Ferromagnetic Free-Flowing Material

US Patent:
5108587, Apr 28, 1992
Filed:
Oct 30, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/429068
Inventors:
Erik K. Walker - Denver CO
International Classification:
B03C 123, B03C 126
US Classification:
209212
Abstract:
Electrodynamic separation of non-ferromagnetic, free-flowing materials, in which at least one component of the material to be processed is electrically conductive, whereby such material is caused to free-fall into a region of space permeated by time and space varying magnetic fields which induce eddy currents in the electrically conductive particles which produce forces on such particles that result in substantially different free-fall trajectory than that of nonconductive particles. Conductive particles are separated on the basis of mass, electrical conductivity and magnetic susceptibility. The time and space varying magnetic fields are generated by a plurality of permanent magnets or electromagnets attached to a rotor assembly such that the polarity of adjacent magnets is caused to reverse so that rotation of the rotor assembly generates magnetic fields which may vary in time and space to the maximum extent.

Apparatus And Method For Motor Driven Appliance Energy Conservation

Apparatus And Method For Motor Driven Appliance Energy Conservation

US Patent:
8400025, Mar 19, 2013
Filed:
Feb 17, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/658961
Inventors:
Erik Keith Walker - Aurora CO, US
James Lee Elliott - Denver CO, US
International Classification:
G05F 1/70
US Classification:
307109, 307154, 323205, 323364
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for substantially reducing the electrical energy consumption of a. c. induction motor-driven appliances by connecting a database predetermined capacitance in parallel with the motor-driven appliances and connecting a database predetermined inductance in series with the a. c. induction motor-driven appliances to effect the optimal power factor correction and optimal inrush current limiting of such motor-driven appliances thereby conserving electrical energy and reducing electrical energy costs. The databases of the present invention which specify the optimal power factor correction capacitance value and an optimal inductance value for specific a. c. induction motor-driven appliances eliminates the need for preliminary power factor and inrush current related electrical measurements and making the mass production and sale of the present invention practical.

Data Transmission By Subrate Grouping

Data Transmission By Subrate Grouping

US Patent:
4553129, Nov 12, 1985
Filed:
Aug 5, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/520669
Inventors:
John B. McNesby - Mesa AZ
Erik K. Walker - Denver CO
Assignee:
GTE Communication Systems Corporation - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
H03K 1324
US Classification:
340347DD
Abstract:
In a data transmission system, apparatus for converting a subrate binary data stream into a binary signal at the line transmission rate comprises means for periodically accepting a date byte from the subrate data stream and; means for expanding the data byte by one additional bit by adding a control bit in the first bit position of the accepting means. The apparatus additionally comprises means for recirculating the expanded data byte through the accepting means a predetermined number of times and means for serially reading out bits of the expanded data byte at the line transmission rate.
