Hiking in the Alps, drinking coffee in a Vienna cafe, sitting for hours in an English garden reading, watching polo, renovating sailboats, outriggers. Walking my three dogs along the Potomac. Amateur ornithologist (meaning I'm a pretty good birder but nowhere in the first rank). My idea of heaven is dining outside, eating my favorite food (pasta, risotto, fish, antipasti, and steak Florentina simply seasoned with olive oil, fresh sage, thyme and rosemary) and drinking an unbelievable Brunello di Montalcino. This, of course, goes hand in hand with my passion for Italy and things Italian. I raise money for organizations that help children who are homeless, abused, left orphaned by disasters, traumatized by war.
