May 27, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/156259
Inventors:
Emery W. Dilling - Austin TX 78731
International Classification:
G08B 1314
US Classification:
3405721, 340901, 340902, 340903, 340904, 340906, 340988, 340436, 3406911, 3406913, 3406915, 340435, 3405723, 3405727, 701 45, 701117, 701301, 343760, 343878, 343894
Abstract:
Vehicle security systems comprise at least one addressable transponder for communication with at least one base station. Each transponder and base station comprises a steerable directional antenna having an antenna azimuth sensor. Transponder and base station antenna azimuths assist in locating a vehicle carrying a transponder and allow near real-time estimation of vehicle heading. Base station networks facilitate location, tracking and/or interception of vehicles within a network geographic area. Use of multiple effective transmission ranges for transponders and/or base stations improves the accuracy of vehicle location.

Vehicle Warning System

Vehicle Warning System

US Patent:
6630891, Oct 7, 2003
Filed:
May 27, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/156509
Inventors:
Emery W. Dilling - Austin TX 78731
International Classification:
G08G 100
US Classification:
340902, 340901, 340903
Abstract:
A vehicle warning system comprises encoder-transmitters in transmitting vehicles and corresponding receiver-decoder-alert subsystems in receiving vehicles. Transmitted signals carry warning information for presentation to drivers of receiving vehicles, preferably including closing velocity and encoded identification of the transmitting vehicles. Warning information may also include estimates of the speed of the transmitting vehicle and of the apparent bearing of the transmitting vehicle relative to each respective receiving vehicle. Warning information is presented via at least two alert modalities. At least one alert modality is presented intermittently, and at least one alert modality is modified when closing velocity is negative. Drivers of receiving vehicles can use this warning information to inform their judgments on safely maneuvering their vehicles to provide needed right-of-way to approaching transmitting vehicles.

Prosthetic Aortic Valve

Prosthetic Aortic Valve

US Patent:
6951573, Oct 4, 2005
Filed:
Dec 22, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/028336
Inventors:
Emery W. Dilling - Austin TX, US
International Classification:
A61F002/06
US Classification:
623 22, 623 21
Abstract:
A prosthetic aortic valve is designed to be implanted in the natural aortic annulus and to extend into the ascending aorta to a point short of the right and left coronary arteries. Blood leakage around the valve is prevented by tension in one or more circumferential cords drawing annular tissue into sealing contact with an external sealing ring on the valve body. The security of the valve's attachment to a patient is assured with a plurality of interrupted sutures between a semirigid flange on the valve outer surface and the patient's aortic commissures and/or the patient's ascending aortic wall. The sutures are preferably attached to posts or cleats on the semirigid sewing flange, the flange being spaced apart from the valve inlet by the sealing ring.

Fluid Circulator For Nonlinear Compliant Circuits

Fluid Circulator For Nonlinear Compliant Circuits

US Patent:
6024692, Feb 15, 2000
Filed:
Jul 3, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/887568
Inventors:
Emery W. Dilling - Austin TX
International Classification:
A61M 110
US Classification:
600 17
Abstract:
Flow in nonlinearly compliant leaky fluid circuits is controlled by alteration of control variables in fluid pathways external to the leaky circuits. In analogous practical applications, blood flow in patients undergoing total cardiopulmonary bypass is modified to limit transvascular fluid loss from the circulatory system into body tissues by altering control variables in an external fluid pathway through which venous blood from the patient passes before being oxygenated and returned under pressure to the patient's arterial system. A controller uses predetermined rules operating on control variables to achieve objectives which may include minimization of fluid leak rates and/or maintenance of euvolemic conditions in a patient's circulatory system while circulatory system flow rates are maintained at or above physiologically-established minimums.
