Abstract:
A patient positioning apparatus including a base, a support column, at least one positioning arm on the support column capable of being positioned over a bed and having a buckle and strap capable of securing to a patient support connected to bed linens or other flexible member so that a patient can be partially or totally suspended when an adjustable bed is lowered or when the patient support is raised. The apparatus may further include a telescoping support column and horizontal support for supporting positioning arms. Patient repositioning may be effectuated by positioning the arms over a patient, extending straps with buckle inserts into receiving buckles on a patient support or support bar secured to bed linens. A patient positioning apparatus may be free-standing or may be mounted to a ceiling or a wall or may include a swiveling support column. A fabric gripper with a support bar and an insert bar may be used to connect the bed linens or other flexible member to the apparatus.

Abstract:
A patient positioning apparatus comprising a base, a support column, at least one positioning arm on the support column capable of being positioned over a bed and having a buckle and strap capable of securing to a patient support with a receiving buckle so that a patient can be partially or totally suspended when an adjustable bed is lowered. The apparatus further comprising a telescoping support column and horizontal support for holding a first and second positioning arm. The positioning arms further comprising locking pivots for extending and retracting. Patient repositioning is effectuated by positioning the arms over a patient, extending straps with buckle inserts into receiving buckles on a fabric gripper secured to bed linens. A patient positioning apparatus can further be mounted to either a ceiling or a wall or can comprise a swiveling support column.

Abstract:
An apparatus for repositioning bedridden patients with: a base, vertical and horizontal movements, and lifting portion; telescoping legs extending outward from the base with wheels affixed to each leg; detachable clamps affixed to each leg and capable of removeably attaching to a bed; the horizontal movement containing a roller and belts actuated by a gear and crank assembly coupled to the vertical movement portion; the vertical movement having two lifting units with first and second pistons coupled to the inside of each of the units and a hydraulic pump and controller for the actuation of the hydraulic pump and the upward and downward movement of the pistons; the lifting portion comprising a telescoping lifting arm with a lead screw and a crank for extending or retracting said lifting arm and with a lateral movement portion coupled to the top of the vertical movement and the lifting portion.
