Adjustably Controllable Walker

Adjustably Controllable Walker

US Patent:
5794639, Aug 18, 1998
Filed:
Oct 4, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/725705
Inventors:
Eli Einbinder - New York NY
International Classification:
A61H 300
US Classification:
135 67
Abstract:
A controller for wheeled vehicles includes a mechanism which selectively shifts the vehicle between a mobile and a stable state. The vehicle may be a walker for easing an operator's efforts in walking and includes a selectively actuable stabilizer which fixes the position of the walker or releases it for rolling motion, thus providing a stable state or a mobile state, respectively. An actuator such as a button, pressure sensor, or lever, electrically and/or mechanically actuates a stabilizer brake mechanism to engage or release the brake and thereby allow the walker's mobility to be controlled when the actuator operates the brake to stabilize or to slow the motion of the walker. Preferably, lift applied to the vehicle itself releases the brake and allows mobility. The actuator may control an electrically actuated braking mechanism, in response to a sensor such as a strain gauge that may be adjusted to the needs of the patient; alternatively, lifters may be provided to act in response to the lifting force.

Electronically Controlled Brakes For Walkers

Electronically Controlled Brakes For Walkers

US Patent:
7708120, May 4, 2010
Filed:
Aug 17, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/889932
Inventors:
Eli Einbinder - New York NY, US
International Classification:
B60T 1/02
US Classification:
188 31, 188 19, 188 2 A
Abstract:
An improved electronic braking system for walkers that incorporates one or more electrically-operated brakes controlled by an electronic controller is disclosed. The controller is responsive to touch-sensitive switches for easy operation, and is adjustable and responsive to operator patterns of use to provide individualized control of the brake operation. The controller may also be responsive to environmental conditions such as the slope of the ground over which the walker is moving, to its rate of motion, or to the distance between the walker frame and the user, and may be adjusted to accommodate for the weight of the user or to set limits to the speed at which it can move.

Protective Surveillance System

Protective Surveillance System

US Patent:
5402167, Mar 28, 1995
Filed:
May 13, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/061833
Inventors:
Eli Einbinder - New York NY
Assignee:
Cornell Research Foundation, Inc. - Ithaca NY
International Classification:
H04N 718
US Classification:
348152
Abstract:
A system for observing and recording the activity between a practitioner such as a psychiatrist or doctor and a patient includes zoom lens video camera and a microphone having output signals mixed and fed through a delay network to a high capacity tape recorder together with a date/time signal and a remote control for adjusting the recorder speed between a normal recording speed and a dormant slow frame time lapse speed. A monitor is coupled to the mixed signals and the field and orientation of the camera is remotely controlled by the practitioner. A sound or motion sensor may switch the recorder from slow speed to normal recording speed; or in other situations which so dictate, it may initiate the dormant slow frame time lapse speed--regular or random--and so remain.

Urine Receiver

Urine Receiver

US Patent:
5406650, Apr 18, 1995
Filed:
May 27, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/250389
Inventors:
Eli Einbinder - New York NY
International Classification:
A47K 1112, A61G 900
US Classification:
41442
Abstract:
A urine receiver for sanitary use away from rest-room facilities; the receiver may also be used by the bedridden. The receiver includes an inlet, an air outlet vent, an expandable bag member, a sealing plastic cap and may have a disinfectant and deodorant for rendering potentially harmful human waste safe for public disposal. The urine receiver also includes a top handle and a bottom handle to facilitate use, and may be used with a vaginal adaptor.
