US Classification:
701102, 73 2331, 731173, 123399
Abstract:
A vehicle use profile is created by driving a vehicle with a throttle-controlled engine over a predetermined course at a first period of time. A vehicle use parameter is recorded at predetermined intervals along the course along with the throttle level. At a later time, a vehicle is driven over the same predetermined course with the throttle controlled according to the vehicle use profile. The vehicle use parameter can include real time position, speed, and elevation taken from a GPS receiver, or vehicle emission levels, wind resistance, or vehicle speed, taken real time from various sensors, wherein the vehicle is controlled in accord to one or more of the parameters.

Fuel Limiting Method And Apparatus For An Internal Combustion Vehicle

US Patent:
5315977, May 31, 1994
Filed:
Apr 22, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/688306
Inventors:
Dwayne Fosseen - Radcliffe IA
International Classification:
F02M 3704
US Classification:
123357
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for limiting the fuel to an internal combustion engine to reduce emissions of the engine. Means responsive to one or more operating conditions of the engine are provided for adjustably setting the maximum open position of a throttle of the engine so as to reduce and limit the maximum fuel volume flow rate to the engine. The operating conditions include the fuel flow rate called for by an accelerator, the condition of the transmission of a vehicle in which the engine is installed, the slope or incline on which the vehicle is located, the vehicle speed, and the speed and direction of any wind.

Fuel Tracking System

Fuel Tracking System

US Patent:
2008029, Dec 4, 2008
Filed:
May 30, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/130098
Inventors:
Dwayne Fosseen - Radcliffe IA, US
International Classification:
G01M 15/04
US Classification:
7311414, 7311453, 7311452, 701213
Abstract:
An apparatus for real-time monitoring of fuel consumption of a vehicle is provided. The apparatus includes a fuel sensor in operative communication with a data tracker for logging set increments. The fuel consumption information is sent to a remote communication device that is in communication with the data tracker, and then the fuel consumption information is sent to a remote monitoring network, where reports detailing fuel consumption are generated. The fuel consumption data provides a user with information about hourly fuel usage, average horse power, operator performance, the location where each increment of fuel is consumed, excessive idle times or breaks in production, and differences in fuel consumption rates for different operators, shifts and jobs.

Target Range Apparatus

Target Range Apparatus

US Patent:
4979752, Dec 25, 1990
Filed:
May 3, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/518188
Inventors:
Dwayne Fosseen - Radcliffe IA
International Classification:
F41J 704
US Classification:
273392
Abstract:
A target apparatus having a knock-down target supported on a target base moveable on a support frame between an upper, exposed position and a lower, hidden position. The target is pivotally attached to the target frame for movement between an upright position and a knock-down position. An air cylinder moves the target base upwardly against a pair of springs which, when the air cylinder is disabled, return the target base to the lower position. A reed switch senses movement of the target to the knock-down position and disables the air cylinder. Upon movement of the target base to the lower position, a reset arm returns the target to its upright position.

Engine Emissions Control Apparatus And Method

Engine Emissions Control Apparatus And Method

US Patent:
4958598, Sep 25, 1990
Filed:
Oct 10, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/419254
Inventors:
Dwayne Fosseen - Radcliffe IA
Assignee:
Midwest Power Concepts, Ltd. - Radcliffe IA
International Classification:
F02B 7512
US Classification:
123 1A
Abstract:
Apparatus and method for reducing the emissions of a diesel engine. A hydrous alcohol fuel of low proof supplements the diesel fuel, particularly in high acceleration and high r. p. m. conditions. The fuel is fumigated into the airstream of the intake manifold of the engine by a fuel injector that is supplied both the alcohol fuel and air under pressure. Control apparatus begins delivery of the alcohol fuel above a selected engine r. p. m. and the amount delivered generally corresponds to engine r. p. m. Under heavy acceleration, the flow of diesel fuel is reduced and engine power is brought back up by the alcohol fuel. No alcohol fuel is used when the engine is decelerating or reducing its r. p. m. 's.
