Electric Air-Heater Unit Utilizing A Centrifugal Impeller

Electric Air-Heater Unit Utilizing A Centrifugal Impeller

US Patent:
4090061, May 16, 1978
Filed:
Mar 1, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/662807
Inventors:
Dov Zeev Glucksman - Newton MA
International Classification:
H05B 100, F24H 304, A45D 2010
US Classification:
219369
Abstract:
An air heating unit comprises a blower casing, a centrifugal impeller and a heating element in the shape of a cylindrical cage of longitudinal guide vanes fastened to the wall of the casing. The guide vanes are made from an electric resistance alloy in sheet form in the shape of uniform strips of a length conforming to the width of the impeller, all vanes being connected at their ends by conductive bridging pieces jointing the alternate ends of each two proximate vanes, thus forming a resister in zigzag pattern provided with terminals for energizing it. The vanes and the bridging pieces may form part of a single rectangular sheet rolled up to form the cylindrical casing and provided with alternate transverse cuts along both edges which stop short of the bridging pieces. The strips between the bridging pieces are bent or curved outwardly from the sheet at a desired angle.

Electric Air Heating Element

Electric Air Heating Element

US Patent:
4230933, Oct 28, 1980
Filed:
Feb 17, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/878945
Inventors:
Dov Z. Glucksman - Newton MA
Karl H. Weidemann - Brookline MA
International Classification:
H05B 302
US Classification:
219375
Abstract:
An electric air heating element is designed for positioning in the cylindrical or conical outlet tube of a hair dryer. It consists of a star-shaped coil carrier in the shape of four fins extending radially from a common center line in the axis of the outlet tube towards the tube walls. The fin edges are serrated by adjacent rectangular slots, the slots on each edge penetrating alternately to a shallow and to a greater depth, and a ribbon-shaped resister laid into these slots is helically wound around the coil carrier. In this way successive windings lie in different planes and air turbulence around the heating coil is thereby increased, improving the heat transfer between the resistor windings and the throughflowing air.

Electric Space Heater

Electric Space Heater

US Patent:
4132885, Jan 2, 1979
Filed:
Nov 22, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/854045
Inventors:
Dov Z. Glucksman - Newton MA
Karl H. Weidemann - Brookline MA
International Classification:
F24H 902
US Classification:
219345
Abstract:
A space heater comprises a heater plate made of a metal sheet provided with vertical corrugations, the corrugations in the bottom portion of the sheet being compressed to a flat strip of a thickness not less than three times the thickness of the sheet. The corrugations are so dimensioned that the unfolded length of the metal sheet is three times the length of the corrugated length of the heater body. One, two or more electric flat heating elements are laid along the compressed bottom edge and pressed against it by a U-shaped retaining channel. When serving as a room air-heater, the heater plate is covered on one or both sides by protective panels to prevent people from touching the hot plate and to increase convective air current flow.

Dehydrator

Dehydrator

US Patent:
4236063, Nov 25, 1980
Filed:
Jun 22, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/917967
Inventors:
Dov Z. Glucksman - Newton MA
International Classification:
F26B 2106
US Classification:
219400
Abstract:
An electrically operated dehydrator in the form of perforated trays stacked one on top of the other where the bottom tray is equipped with a blower-heater package and the top tray forms a solid cover. Air is drawn in by the blower from underneath the bottom tray, it is heated and then forced to rise through the perforated trays. A portion of the air is being recirculated into the blower through a central duct whereas the remainder of the air is allowed to bleed-out through a series of openings in the top.
