Experience as a registered nurse and physician has helped me to develop a service philosophy directed at providing continuing and comprehensive health care toward the individual and family. Healthy families are dependent upon attention to preventative healthcare, chronic disease, obesity and nutrition. From my prospective, the focus of Family Medicine is preventing, identifying and treating the underlying causes of disease while involving the patient to become a partner in their disease process and management. This includes acute and chronic illnesses, emergency care, preventative care, end of life care and health education. Working together, a patient (including family) and a Family Medicine specialist can make sure that an individual receives the care that they need, from the newborn years until the senior years. In today’s social and medical environment the overall wellbeing of individuals and their families requires the intervention of a Family Medicine specialist to evaluate, diagnose, develop a treatment plan and refer at the appropriate time. It is my goal to provide realistic, “down to earth” discussions about disease management and treatment options during all phases of life. I encourage all patients to become pro-active in their health care.
