Philosophy:
Dr. Schmitz has called Colorado home most of her life, graduating from Aurora Central High School, Colorado State University and then The University of Colorado School of Medicine. She also completed her residency here in Denver at St Joseph's Hospital. Her particular areas of expertise and interest include innovative treatments for abnormal uterine bleeding and urinary incontinence, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. She has a particular passion for the issues faced by women in midlife, focusing on perimenopause and beyond. “Once our children are grown it is time to take care of ourselves. My goal is to help women navigate this phase of life with grace and health, making them our best years yet”. Dr. Schmitz remains close to her two college age children and enjoys skiing, cycling, and mountaineering. During a recent summer Dr. Schmitz rode her bike from Oregon to Maine over a period of 6 weeks and she has summited nearly all of the 54 14ers in Colorado. She is also involved in medical mission work and has performed surgery in underserved areas of Nepal and Peru in recent years.
