I believe deeply in respecting the intelligence of the people I care for and seek always to treat patients with a combination of compassion and clinical rigor. Ultimately, it's patients themselves, not physicians, who best know their own experience. For me, this means that attending closely to patients is not just good customer service (something we all deserve) but also the necessary foundation for good medicine. People simply get better faster and stay well longer when they are sincerely consulted, heard, and actively participate in their own care. I approach my role, therefore, as both a clinical expert and a professionally-trained collaborator. I listen carefully to people in assessing their challenges and establishing the right diagnosis. Then, I work together with patients in customizing the right treatment plans to fit their particular wishes and needs. It's immensely gratifying work, and my staff and I consider it a privilege to care for our patients and their families.
