Fire Resistant Expansion Joint

US Patent:
4977719, Dec 18, 1990
Filed:
Sep 6, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/403531
Inventors:
Allan R. LaRoche - Roseville CA
Douglas S. Pearmain - Auburn ME
Denis M. Kelleher - Denver CO
International Classification:
E04B 174
US Classification:
52396
Abstract:
An expansion joint for interior or exterior use including a fire barrier comprised of a fire resistant inorganic refractory fiber fabric sheet which supports resilient fire resistant inorganic refractory fibers. The support sheet may be closed to form a sleeve. When used as an exterior expansion joint a weather resistant cover comprising a bellows or a cover plate is employed. When used in an interior application a cover plate may be employed to form a bridge over the expansion joint to provide a continuous flooring or to provide additional fire resistance. The fabric is attached to adjacent structure by mounting flanges in the form of a bifurcated clamp, and one of the fabric-engaging clamp faces may be crimped and pierced to better grip the fabric.

Elastomeric Composite Membrane

US Patent:
4948652, Aug 14, 1990
Filed:
Oct 6, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/418038
Inventors:
Denis M. Kelleher - Denver CO
Robert B. Walters - Morrison CO
International Classification:
B32B 2504
US Classification:
422110
Abstract:
An elastomeric composite membrane for use in construction installations wherein the membrane is in contact with an asphaltic component. The membrane comprises upper and lower sheets bonded together. The upper exposed sheet is resistant to weathering such as to moisture and ultraviolet rays, and in some cases to corrosive chemicals as well, while the lower sheet is compatible with asphalt. Preferably, the lower sheet is comprised of nitrile rubber, and the upper sheet is comprised of a rubber compound such as EPDM.

Flexible Gutter

US Patent:
4663894, May 12, 1987
Filed:
Feb 21, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/813288
Inventors:
Allan R. LaRoche - Lewiston ME
Robert A. Butcher - Turner Center ME
Denis M. Kelleher - Denver CO
Marcel L. M. Corriveau - Lewiston ME
Jean A. Dubuc - Lewiston ME
Assignee:
Manville Corporation - Denver CO
International Classification:
E04D 1304, E04B 168
US Classification:
52 15
Abstract:
A flexible drainage gutter for use under a horizontal surface having moisture accumulation or leaks under cracks or expansion joints. A flexible, waterproof membrane is attached along its elongated edges to rigid flanges which can be attached to the horizontal surface itself or to support members attached to the surface. The width of the membrane can vary so that the membrane hangs down from the flanges a greater distance downstream than upstream, thereby providing for the slope of the gutter. Alternatively, the wall portions of the flanges, to which the edges of the membrane are attached, can vary in width while maintaining the width of the membrane constant to provide for the slope of the gutter.
