Abstract:
A method of in-situ bioremediation for treating underground nonaqueous phase liquid contamination. This includes providing a delivery means for supply acetic acid to a DNAPL target zone. The next step includes supplying the acetic acid by the delivery means so that the acetic acid is introduced into the DNAPL target zone. This allows the natural microorganisms in the DNAPL target zone to metabolize the acetic acid thereby creating anaerobic conditions and destroying DNAPL chemicals. The final step includes maintaining the anaerobic conditions for a sufficient period of time such that the microorganisms are enhanced and produced until remediation is complete.
