US Patent:
6423059, Jul 23, 2002
Filed:
Nov 16, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/441549
Inventors:
David A. Hanson - Minneapolis MN
Raed N. Rizq - Minneapolis MN
Jodi L. Balik - Eden Prairie MN
Samira Tahvildari - St. Paul MN
Mandar G. Sukhatankar - Minneapolis MN
William K. Durfee - Edina MN
Arthur G. Erdman - New Brighton MN
Assignee:
Sulzer Medica USA Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
A61B 1818
US Classification:
606 41, 604528, 600585
Abstract:
A radio frequency ablation apparatus having an application wand which is articulating and self-locking in a selected configuration. The wand has a handle having a thumb wheel apparatus. A threaded bore extends coaxially through the thumb wheel. A threaded tube received in the threaded bore translates a wire which extends to the distal end of the wand. At the distal end of the wand, the wire passes over a bendable section in the wand. Pushing or pulling the wire bends the distal tip through a range of angles on both sides of a neutral linear position. The distal tip remains self-locked in a selected position when the thumb screw is not turned.

Bone Preparation Instruments And Methods

US Patent:
6641582, Nov 4, 2003
Filed:
Jul 6, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/611237
Inventors:
David A. Hanson - Minneapolis MN
Ross A. Longhini - Woodbury MN
Steven J. Seme - Savage MN
Assignee:
Sulzer Spine-Tech Inc. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
A61B 1756
US Classification:
606 61, 623 1711
Abstract:
Instruments and methods for preparing adjacent bones for fusion are disclosed. In a typical embodiment, the instruments include paddles for spacing the adjacent bones a predetermined distance and a cutting edge to create a channel between the adjacent bones to receive a fusion implant. The instruments and methods are particularly advantageous for preparing a spinal fusion implant site.

Noncontact Conveyor Feeder System

US Patent:
5070995, Dec 10, 1991
Filed:
Jul 19, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/555777
Inventors:
Eric J. Schaffer - Eden Prairie MN
David J. Hanson - Apple Valley MN
Assignee:
MTS Systems Corporation - Eden Prairie MN
International Classification:
B65G 4731
US Classification:
198460
Abstract:
A feeder conveyor system for transferring randomly spaced products received from an input conveyor to precise locations within flites of a wrapper conveyor. A plurality of conveyors, prior to the wrapper conveyor, are independently driven by product positioning drive subsystems. Each product positioning drive subsystem associates products on its respective conveyor with target flites on the wrapper conveyor, and characterizes positional errors of the products on the conveyor relative to their associated target flites as being in one of a plurality of discrete positional error states representing a range of errors. The velocity of the conveyors controlled by the positioning drive subsystem as a function of the positional error state and the fill state of the associated target flite and flite previous to the target flite. A plurality of spacing conveyors are positioned upstream from the positioning conveyors and are independently driven by products spacing drive subsystems. The velocity of the spacing conveyors is controlled by the spacing drive subsystems as a function of state flags to space products at flite lengths with respect to one another.

Single Layer Poly Fabrication Method And Device With Shallow Emitter/Base Junctions And Optimized Channel Stopper

US Patent:
4721685, Jan 26, 1988
Filed:
Apr 18, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/853792
Inventors:
Timothy M. Lindenfelser - Eagan MN
David A. Hanson - Apple Valley MN
Assignee:
Sperry Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
H01L 21265, H01L 2120, H01L 21425
US Classification:
437 31
Abstract:
A method for fabricating high performance bipolar transistors using a single polycrystalline silicon layer whereby horizontally and vertically scaled base/emitter junctions are achieved. In an extrinsic base transistor, a composite sandwich of overlying layers of poly silicon, oxide and nitride are deposited over a substrate containing field oxide isolated monocrystalline transistor sites having buried subcollectors and sinker regions. The composite sandwich is thereafter selectively oxidized to define base, emitter and collector regions with the relative thickness of the composite sandwich and the grown oxide being controlled to assure proper horizontal extrinsic base to emitter spacings and shallow vertical intrinsic base to emitter junctions, upon completing subsequent implant and annealing steps. Each active transistor site is also surrounded by a ring-like, channel stopper which is physically isolated from the channel stopper of each other device.

Machine For Casting Concrete Members

US Patent:
4369153, Jan 18, 1983
Filed:
Apr 27, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/257781
Inventors:
Richard C. Nash - New Prague MN
David W. Hanson - Golden Valley MN
Richard R. Koehn - Prior Lake MN
Assignee:
Fabcon, Inc. - Savage MN
International Classification:
B29D 702
US Classification:
264 62
Abstract:
A machine for casting concrete panels. The machine disclosed casts hollow core concrete panels in a single casting operation utilizing a slipform technique to fill cores with core material which can be dumped from the core after curing of the concrete has been accomplished. Vibration of the slipform during casting facilitates free flow of concrete around the slipform and core material extruded from slipforms. The slipform has a closed front portion which is tapered to a reduced cross section. The machine utilizes a casting pallet employing improved side form cleaning apparatus. The machine also includes improved finishing screeds for applying decorative three-dimensional finishes on the top surface of cast panels.
