Boundary Sensor Assembly For A Robotic Lawn Mower, Robotic Lawn Mower And Robotic Lawn Mower System

US Patent:
2014001, Jan 9, 2014
Filed:
Jul 9, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/544270
Inventors:
David August Johnson - Cary NC, US
Patrick Wilson Cross - Cary NC, US
Colin Eric Das - Mt. Prospect IL, US
Assignee:
DEERE & COMPANY - Moline IL
International Classification:
G05B 15/00, A01D 34/00, G01R 27/28
US Classification:
700258, 324654
Abstract:
A robotic mower sensor assembly for detecting a boundary wire signal. The sensor assembly includes a plurality of analog inductive sensors with a first inductive sensor oriented along a first axis and a second inductive sensor oriented along a second, different axis. Each inductive sensor is configured to generate a signal indicative of the distance of the robotic mower from the boundary wire. A control unit communicating with the sensor assembly is configured to operate the robotic mower in response to the signals from the sensor assembly which are indicative of the distance of the robotic mower from the boundary wire.

Method, System And Program Product For Asynchronously Processing Requests

US Patent:
7756982, Jul 13, 2010
Filed:
Feb 20, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/034426
Inventors:
David Phillip Johnson - Cary NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709227, 709223
Abstract:
Under the present invention, a request for a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is received from a client on a server. Upon receipt, a corresponding session object is obtained, and a response identifier is generated. Based on the response identifier, it is determined whether the URL was previously requested by the client. If not, generation of a final response begins. As the response is being generated, a response refresh header is generated and returned to the client with a temporary response. The response refresh header contains a time value for causing the client to automatically send a subsequent request for the URL. After generation of the final response is complete, it is stored in a cache according to the response identifier. Then, when the subsequent request is received from the client, the final response is retrieved from the cache and served to the client.

Automatically Scaling The Information And Controls In Navigation Tabs Per Available Window Area

US Patent:
7917864, Mar 29, 2011
Filed:
Dec 12, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/954564
Inventors:
Randal L. Bertram - Raleigh NC, US
David P. Johnson - Cary NC, US
Karen R. Kluttz - Raleigh NC, US
Mark E. Molander - Cary NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715777, 715815, 715851
Abstract:
A method in a data processing system for providing a user of the data processing system with control of a software object organized into a plurality of information levels including initially displaying a first display window having a first size. The first display window includes a first level tab navigation frame to allow the user interactive access to a first information level of the plurality of information levels. The first display window additionally includes a first window-sizing interface to allow the user interactive access to a second display window having a second size which includes a second level tab navigation frame to allow the user interactive access to a second information level of the plurality of information levels and to subsequently display the second display window in response to the user interacting with the first window-sizing interface.

Method, System And Computer Program Product For Computer System Vulnerability Analysis And Fortification

US Patent:
7603714, Oct 13, 2009
Filed:
Mar 8, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/795776
Inventors:
David P. Johnson - Cary NC, US
Neeraj R. Joshi - Morrisville NC, US
Brent A. Miller - Cary NC, US
Daniel S. Rabinovitz - Stamford CT, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G08B 23/00
US Classification:
726 25, 726 22, 713164, 709223, 709224
Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for the automatic detection and fixing of security vulnerabilities in both individual software components and across complex, multi-component software solutions. The architecture of the software solution to be monitored is analyzed prior to its being monitored. Data derived from the analysis is used to proactively identify possible ways to attack the software solution. The software solution being monitored and the system on which it runs is periodically scanned, and attacks on it are attempted. A list of possible attacks is continuously updated, for example, in a manner similar to virus signatures provided by virus security companies, and a log is generated describing which attacks were successful and which ones failed.

Navigation System And Method For Autonomous Mower

US Patent:
2014001, Jan 9, 2014
Filed:
Jul 9, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/544277
Inventors:
David August Johnson - Cary NC, US
Colin Eric Das - Mt. Prospect IL, US
Assignee:
DEERE & COMPANY - Moline IL
International Classification:
G05D 1/02
US Classification:
701 23
Abstract:
A navigation system for a robotic mower includes a boundary wire defining a boundary of a specified area; a boundary sensor assembly, and a vehicle control unit with a navigation arbitration logic configured to arbitrate a selection between at least a straight propagation mode and an arc propagation mode. The navigation arbitration module is configured to select the arc propagation mode when the sensor assembly indicates that the mower approaches the boundary of the specified area and has a distance from the boundary that is equal to or smaller than a specified turn distance. The boundary sensor assembly generates a sensor signal representative of a measured yaw angle of the mower relative to the boundary wire, and the navigation arbitration logic is configured to generate output information representative of a desired yaw angle dependent on an assumed actual yaw angle.

Autonomic Management Of Uniform Resource Identifiers In Uniform Resource Identifier Bookmark Lists

US Patent:
8176166, May 8, 2012
Filed:
Apr 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/737232
Inventors:
John R. Hind - Raleigh NC, US
David P. Johnson - Cary NC, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to URI management for bookmarks and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for autonomic management of URIs in a URI bookmark list. In one embodiment of the invention, a method for autonomically managing bookmarks in a bookmark list can be provided. The method can include parsing a list of bookmarks to test validity for network addresses within the bookmarks, and, for each of the bookmarks containing an invalid network address, inferring a correct network address. For example, inferring a correct network address can include comparing a chunk of an image of expected content for the bookmark with pre-stored chunks of content and retrieving a network address for a closely matching one of the pre-stored chunks of content.
