Bus Loader

Bus Loader

US Patent:
4029223, Jun 14, 1977
Filed:
Jul 25, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/599063
Inventors:
Donald F. Adamski - Danville CA
David M. Anderson - Lafayette CA
Assignee:
MB Associates - San Ramon CA
International Classification:
B60P 148
US Classification:
214 77R
Abstract:
A bus loader for a wheel chair and for the infirm embodies a platform which is mounted within the entrance area at the front of the bus. A minimum change in the standard bus is achieved by removing the bottom and intermediate steps at the front entrance and mounting the loading mechanism within the resulting recess. The loading mechanism is so constructed that the doors will swing in at each side of the opening in a manner in which they are normally operated. The platform is moved to the ground or curbstone, the wheel chair is moved thereon and retained in position and the platform, wheel chair and occupant is raised and the platform advanced toward the bus driver and lowered upon the floor permitting the wheel chair occupant to drop a fare in the fare box. A rail is provided on the forward and inner sides of the platform so that the physically handicapped and the infirm may stand upon the platform and be raised into the bus thereby reducing the time required for loading the bus.

Transfer Mechanism In A Peach Pitter

Transfer Mechanism In A Peach Pitter

US Patent:
4380953, Apr 26, 1983
Filed:
Feb 2, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/230240
Inventors:
David M. Anderson - Lafayette CA
John C. Erb - Carson City NV
Assignee:
Filper Corporation - Reno NV
International Classification:
A23N 404, A23N 422
US Classification:
99549
Abstract:
In a peach pitter of the type including a pair of blades which both bisect the peach and grip the peach pit, a pair of jaws which twist the peach halves to remove them from the pit, and an aligner which orients the peaches so that their suture planes lie in the plane of the blades, a transfer mechanism is disclosed which accurately feeds individual, oriented peaches from the aligner to the blades in a sequence which minimizes the time required. A pair of claws grasp a peach at a transfer point on the aligner when it is momentarily substantially stationary and immediately carry the peach through an arc toward the blades. As the peach is impaled on the lower of the pair of blades, the upper blade descends to grip the pit. The claws, which are specially designed to insure that the peach is properly aligned with the pitting axis extending between the blades, are then released from the peach and rapidly returned to the transfer point in spread-apart condition ready to receive the next peach. A quick-acting four-bar linkage is disclosed which rapidly closes the claws on the peach at the aligner, translates the claws from the aligner to deposit the peach at the pitting station, and releases the claws and retracts them in the brief interval before the pitter jaws grasp and twist the peach halves loose from the held pit.

International Classification:
A23N 404, A23N 422
US Classification:
99554
Abstract:
A peach pitter of the torque type in which the space between the pit gripping teeth on the peach bisecting blades at the pitting station is open at both ends and each successive peach is fed into said space through one open end and the preceeding pitted peach and separated pit are discharged out of the other open end of said space.
