System And Method Of Managing Multiple Video Players

System And Method Of Managing Multiple Video Players

US Patent:
2012030, Nov 29, 2012
Filed:
May 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/481528
Inventors:
Mark B. Hurst - Cedar Hills UT, US
David S. Anderson - Salt Lake City UT, US
Krysta L. Hurst - Provo UT, US
Assignee:
ECHOSTAR ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES L.L.C. - Englewood CO
International Classification:
A63F 13/00, A63F 9/24
US Classification:
463 31, 463 42
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for managing multiple video players executing on a client software platform. Each video player can have at least one video data stream supplied over a data network. A priority value can be applied to selected video players, and an amount of available bandwidth can be determined The determined amount of available bandwidth may also be used to calculate whether the selected video players can sustain a video playback quality above a pre-defined threshold. This operation can include appropriately apportioning and managing bandwidth and/or processing power allotments between the video players based on the priority assignments when the bandwidth and/or processing power is less than what the video players want to consume. A modify playback message may be sent to at least one video player when the video playback rate is not sustainable or has become sustainable again.

Reel Servo Control System

Reel Servo Control System

US Patent:
4065074, Dec 27, 1977
Filed:
Jun 2, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/692175
Inventors:
David Robert Anderson - Murray UT
Wilbert Cleon Anderson - Salt Lake City UT
Vaughn Junior Jenkins - Bountiful UT
Assignee:
Sperry Rand Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
318, G11B 1558
US Classification:
242184
Abstract:
A tape reel servo control system for use with a tape transport system wherein tape loop position within vacuum loop boxes is maintained by digital techniques as opposed to analog techniques. In normal operation when the tape loop deviates from an equilibrium position in one direction within a loop box, its associated reel is accelerated to move it back to its equilibrium position by means of a series of motor drive pulses whose pulse lengths are determined by the count registered in a counter wherein the count is varied in accordance with the difference between actual and required acceleration of the reel. When the tape loop deviates from the equilibrium position in the other direction, the reel drive motor is braked by electronically shorting its terminals until the tape loop moves back to its equilibrium position. When the direction of tape movement is changed, means are provided which override the normal control of the system and prevents tape damage by overrun into or removal of the tape from its associated loop box by applying a combination of motor braking and plugging current to the motor drive.

Timer Controlled Cigarette Dispenser

Timer Controlled Cigarette Dispenser

US Patent:
5203472, Apr 20, 1993
Filed:
Aug 29, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/752024
Inventors:
Warren G. Levenbaum - Phoenix AZ
David Anderson - Salt Lake City UT
Assignee:
Longevity Products Corporation - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
B65B 5900
US Classification:
221 15
Abstract:
A cigarette dispenser useful for aiding a person to stop smoking utilizes a movable belt for the controlled dispensing of cigarettes. The belt has openings therein which sequentially expose the open ends of cartridge compartments containing cigarettes to permit the cigarettes to be dispensed one at a time. A timing unit in the dispenser locks movement of the belt for periods of time during which the smoker is not permitted to smoke. Actual advancement of the belt is effected by the smoker at his leisure after receiving a signal signifying the end of the non-smoking period. The timing unit is in a controlled central processing unit capable of progressively increasing the duration of non-smoking periods during the course of the quitting routine.

Capstan Speed Control System

Capstan Speed Control System

US Patent:
4078193, Mar 7, 1978
Filed:
Apr 21, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/678849
Inventors:
David Robert Anderson - Murray UT
Vaughn Junior Jenkins - Bountiful UT
Assignee:
Sperry Rand Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
H02P 500
US Classification:
318317
Abstract:
A magnetic tape-transport system wherein the speed of a capstan used to transport magnetic tape past a read-write head is controlled utilizing digital techniques. A comparator is provided a first digital input indicative of desired speed and a second input from a counter which counts up or down until the count equals the first digital input. The counter output is converted to an analog voltage and applied to a summing junction point which also receives a voltage which is proportional to the instantaneous speed of the capstan drive motor. The voltage difference at the summing junction point is used to drive the capstan drive motor.
