Booster Axle Connection System For A Trailer Assembly

US Patent:
4423884, Jan 3, 1984
Filed:
Jan 7, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/337864
Inventors:
David E. Gevers - Lafayette IN
Assignee:
Talbert Manufacturing, Inc. - Rensselaer IN
International Classification:
B62D 5304
US Classification:
280405A
Abstract:
A trailer assembly comprises a main frame, main axles carrying laterally spaced wheels for supporting the main frame, a suspension system connecting the main axles to the main frame, a kingpin for coupling the main frame to a power unit, a secondary frame, one or more booster axles carrying wheels for supporting the secondary frame, a suspension system connecting the booster axle or axles to the secondary frame, and a booster axle connection system between the main frame and secondary frame for proportionately distributing weight or force between the main axles to the one or more booster axles. The booster axle connection system includes a lever arm extending forward from the secondary frame, a support arm extending rearward from the main frame, and a variably positionable pivot connection between the support arm and the lever arm providing a fulcrum for movement of the lever arm. The fulcrum of the lever arm may be varied in relation to the number of booster axles to proportion the weight distribution between the main axles and the one or more booster axles. The secondary frame is sectioned to allow addition or deletion of booster axles.

Method For Cohesively Bonding Metal To A Non-Metallic Substrate

US Patent:
8186566, May 29, 2012
Filed:
Mar 10, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/045347
Inventors:
Eugen Abramovici - Toronto, CA
David E. Gevers - Lafayette IN, US
Lucian M. Silvian - West Lafayette IN, US
Assignee:
Nexgeneering Technology LLC - West Lafayette IN
International Classification:
B23K 1/06, B23K 20/12
US Classification:
2281101, 2281121
Abstract:
A process for cohesive bonding between a metal surface and a nonmetallic substrate is provided. The non-metallic substrate may comprise a plurality of microfilaments and/or nanofilaments dispersed into and below the surface of the substrate. The application of pressure and laterally-oriented high frequency and low amplitude vibration may allow for diffusion bonding between the metal surface and material of the nanofilaments. Another method includes discharging energy from a bank of capacitors to melt adjoining surfaces of the metal surface and nonmetallic substrate. Additionally, a cohesive bonding method may further comprise converting electrical oscillations of ultrasonic frequency into ultrasonic vibrations which are transmitted to the metal body and/or substrate for fusing the two materials together.

Hydraulic Trailer Steering System

US Patent:
4456280, Jun 26, 1984
Filed:
Jan 7, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/337865
Inventors:
David E. Gevers - Lafayette IN
Assignee:
Talbert Manufacting, Inc. - Pleasant Ridge IN
International Classification:
B62D 1304
US Classification:
280444
Abstract:
A trailer includes a frame having a plurality of bell cranks pivoted to the frame. A plurality of suspension units are pivotally connected to the frame to permit independent directional displacement of each suspended unit with respect to the frame. A directing means is provided for directing the trailer in the intended direction, the directing means including at least one, and preferably a pair, of master hydraulic cylinders. A plurality of hydraulic slave cylinders connected to the master cylinders are connected to the master cylinders and to the bell cranks for pivoting the bell cranks with respect to the frame in response to any angular displacement of the directing means, thereby causing the suspension units to pivot such as their axles are directed toward a common center defining the center of the curve through which the trailer is directed.

Tamper-Evident Closure And Package

US Patent:
2012009, Apr 19, 2012
Filed:
Feb 28, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/037061
Inventors:
Sohail Sadiq - Crawfordsville IN, US
John Edie - Linden IN, US
David E. Gevers - Lafayette IN, US
William Moll - Bloomingdale IN, US
International Classification:
B65D 55/02
US Classification:
220214
Abstract:
A tamper-indicating plastic closure, and tamper-evident package are disclosed, wherein the closure includes a pilfer band having a substantially continuous tamper-ring. The tamper-ring extends generally angularly upwardly and inwardly of the closure in a tamper-indicating orientation of the tamper-ring for engagement with a relatively enlarged annular locking ring of the associated container. Notably, the tamper-ring includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, projections, which preferably comprise relatively thick regions or shoulders, which desirably act to limit lateral movement of the pilfer band with respect to the container by engagement of at least one shoulder with the associated container generally beneath the container locking ring.

CLOSURE SYSTEM INTERNATIONAL, INC. - Crawfordsville IN
International Classification:
B65D 41/04, B65D 51/16
US Classification:
220303, 220288
Abstract:
A plastic closure embodying the principles of the present invention comprises a closure cap having a top wall portion, and an annular skirt portion depending from the top wall portion. The skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for threaded engagement with the external thread formation of an associated container. In order to facilitate high-speed application, and minimize the use of polymeric material, the closure is configured to exhibit a variation in retention force which decreases in a direction away from the top wall portion of the closure cap.
