Jul 14, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/182571
Inventors:
Harry Presley - Alpharetta GA, US
Bill Dunn - Alpharetta GA, US
David Williams - Alpharetta GA, US
Assignee:
AMERICAN PANEL CORPORATION - Alpharetta GA
International Classification:
F21V 7/04
US Classification:
362225, 362241
Abstract:
An assembly for diffusing a plurality of light sources. A diffusing device is placed adjacent to the plurality of light sources and preferably contains a plurality of shaped reflectors placed on the diffusing device where a shaped reflector is positioned adjacent to each light source. The shaped reflectors are placed in a one-to-one relationship with the light sources, which can be LED or fluorescent or any other type of light source. The reflectors may be single-tone, multi-tone, or gradient-tone and generally have a higher amount of reflectivity near the central axis of the light source and a lower reflectivity away from the central axis of the light source. The shaped reflectors may be used in both direct-lit and edge-lit orientations.

Selection Line And Serial Control Of Remote Operated Devices In An Integrated Power Distribution System

Selection Line And Serial Control Of Remote Operated Devices In An Integrated Power Distribution System

US Patent:
7566986, Jul 28, 2009
Filed:
Sep 12, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/519727
Inventors:
John DeBoer - Decatur GA, US
Seshagiri Rao Marellapudi - Norcross GA, US
Paul Terricciano - Wake Forest NC, US
David M. Williams - Alpharetta GA, US
Assignee:
Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. - Alpharetta GA
International Classification:
H02J 3/14
US Classification:
307 31, 307 38
Abstract:
A power distribution apparatus for distributing electrical power includes circuit breaker modules and remote operated devices mounted separately in a panel. The devices may be relays, circuit breakers, meters, dimmers or other devices for controlling a circuit. An I/O controller board is connected to the remote operated devices and controls those devices through a data rail. A control module may interface with the I/O controller board and may also interface with other I/O controller boards and with one or more networks. A serial communications line connects the I/O interface board with a number of remote operated devices. A separate select line runs from each remote operated device to the I/O controller board. To operate a particular device, the I/O controller board asserts the select line of that device, causing the device to listen for messages on the serial line. The relay executes commands contained in a message only of the select line for that device is asserted.

International Classification:
H02J 3/00, H02J 3/14, G06F 15/16
US Classification:
307 39, 709230
Abstract:
An electrical distribution system for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices comprises a plurality of panels. Each panel comprises a plurality of load control devices each for connection in a branch circuit to a load device, and an input/output (I/O) controller operatively connected to each of the load control devices for controlling operation of the load control devices. The I/O controller includes a communication port. A programmed system controller is provided for commanding operation of the I/O controllers and includes a communication port. A bus operatively connects the I/O controller communication ports to the system controller communication port. The programmed system controller implements a communication program using a protocol establishing communications on the bus, the protocol including a layer stack translating between logical messages and physical messages for communication on the bus, wherein each layer generates its own thread and communicates to other layers via objects passed in queues to adjacent layers.
