Test Apparatus For Locating Shorts During Assembly Of Electrical Buses

US Patent:
4282479, Aug 4, 1981
Filed:
Aug 24, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/069485
Inventors:
Gordon J. Deboo - Sunnyvale CA
David J. Devine - San Jose CA
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Administrator of the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration - Washington DC
International Classification:
G01R 3102
US Classification:
324 51
Abstract:
A test apparatus for locating electrical shorts that is especially suited for use while an electrical circuit is being fabricated or assembled. A ring counter derives input pulses from a squarewave oscillator. The outputs of the counter are fed through transistors to an array of light emitting diodes. Each diode is connected to an electrical conductor, such as a bus bar, that is to be tested. In the absence of a short between two electrical conductors the diodes are sequentially illuminated. When a short occurs, a comparator/multivibrator circuit triggers an alarm and stops the oscillator and the sequential energization of the diodes. The two diodes that remain illuminated identify the electrical conductors that are shorted.

Mounting Assembly For A Roll Of Material

US Patent:
4721267, Jan 26, 1988
Filed:
Mar 7, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/837457
Inventors:
Robert L. Nieto - Concord CA
Joseph B. Camacho - San Jose CA
David J. Devine - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Benson, Inc. - Mountain View CA
International Classification:
B65H 1606, B65H 2306
US Classification:
242 684
Abstract:
An assembly for mounting a roll of paper or Mylar. RTM. film having a hollow core includes a radially expanding core insert at each end of the roll and a core insert support, mountable to a support structure, to support, position and apply a drag force to the paper roll. Each core insert has a radially expandable inner end which is expanded within the core to secure the insert in place. The outer end of the core insert extends beyond the edge of the paper roll. The core insert support includes a pair of arcuate contact surfaces and an adjustable spring biased brake shoe mounted to a frame. The brake shoe presses the outer end of the core insert against the contact surfaces to create a suitable drag on the paper roll. A flipper is pivotally mounted to the frame for movement between free movement and blocking positions to permit or prevent the core inserts from being removed from the core insert supports. Each flipper also axially biases the core insert towards the other flipper.

One-Pump Color Imaging System And Method

US Patent:
4987429, Jan 22, 1991
Filed:
Jan 4, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/460735
Inventors:
Ronald B. Finley - San Francisco CA
Gene F. Day - Hillsborough CA
David J. Devine - San Jose CA
Assignee:
Precision Image Corporation - Redwood City CA
International Classification:
G01D 1506, G03G 2500
US Classification:
346157
Abstract:
A simplified color printing system and method is disclosed in which the printing system has a single applicator that is supplied with toner fluids or inks of different colors. The printing system is simplified by having a single pump employed in association with the applicator. Use of a single pump is made possible, because during a color change the pump and applicator are purged with air both before and after a wash fluid is circulated. The single pump is used to pump both the imaging fluids and the air. The present invention has application in both color electrostatic printers and copiers, and in color ink-jet printers.
