Aircraft Baffle Seal

US Patent:
2007020, Aug 30, 2007
Filed:
Feb 24, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/361734
Inventors:
Daniel McFarlane - Lawrence KS, US
David McFarlane - Baldwin City KS, US
International Classification:
B64C 1/10
US Classification:
244121000
Abstract:
Baffle seals having low coefficients of friction and materials for constructing such baffle seals are disclosed herein. A baffle seal of one embodiment comprises a sheet of material sized to seal a gap between an aircraft's baffle and cowl. The sheet of material has a contact side for contacting a cowl contact surface, and the contact side has a kinetic coefficient of friction that is not more than 0.4. In an embodiment, a sheet of material for forming an aircraft baffle seal is provided. The sheet includes a flexible primary layer and a flexible contact layer presenting a contact side. The contact side has a kinetic coefficient of friction that is not more than 0.4.

Push-Pull Control Utilizing Linear And Rotational Input

US Patent:
8485057, Jul 16, 2013
Filed:
May 18, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/110632
Inventors:
David A. McFarlane - Baldwin City KS, US
Ben Maples - Lawrence KS, US
Assignee:
Horizon, LLC - Baldwin City KS
International Classification:
F16H 1/18
US Classification:
7442491, 7442493, 7442488, 74 8945
Abstract:
Push-pull controls utilizing linear and rotational inputs to create linear output are disclosed. One control includes an elongate push rod and a roller pin. The rod has an outer surface, a generally circular cross-section perimeter, a center axis, a proximal end with a user input, and a distal end configured to directly or indirectly interact with an apparatus to be controlled. The rod is rotatable and slidable along the rod axis. The roller pin has a center axis and an outer surface that contacts the push rod outer surface. The roller pin center axis is angularly offset from and non-intersecting with the push rod center axis. The amount of angular offset is greater than zero degrees.

Aircraft Baffle Seal

US Patent:
8070099, Dec 6, 2011
Filed:
Oct 8, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/576019
Inventors:
Daniel Shane McFarlane - Lawrence KS, US
David Adonis McFarlane - Baldwin City KS, US
Assignee:
Horizon, LLC - Baldwin City KS
International Classification:
B64C 1/10
US Classification:
244121, 244133, 60806
Abstract:
Aircraft systems having baffle seals with low coefficients of friction and methods of assembling aircraft systems are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, an aircraft system includes: (a) an aircraft baffle; (b) an aircraft cowl separated from the aircraft baffle by a gap, the aircraft cowl having a contact surface; and (c) a flexible aircraft baffle seal extending from the aircraft baffle to the aircraft cowl to seal the gap, the aircraft baffle seal having a contact side for contacting the contact surface of the aircraft cowl, the contact side having a kinetic coefficient of friction that is not more than 0. 4, the aircraft baffle seal comprising an elastomer sheet and a laminate, the laminate being the contact side.
