Holder For Pistol Loader And Cartridges

US Patent:
4483089, Nov 20, 1984
Filed:
Jul 19, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/399205
Inventors:
David A. Johnson - Klamath Falls OR
Assignee:
J.F.S., Inc. - Salem OR
International Classification:
F42B 3904
US Classification:
42 89
Abstract:
A cup-like protective carrying device for holding a pistol reloader of the type which carries a plurality of pistol cartridges arranged to be simultaneously inserted into the several chambers of a revolver cylinder has a generally cylindrical protective shell wall and a closed bottom from which a pair of elongate arms extend upwardly, passing between adjacent ones of the cartridges. A catch on each of the arms includes camming surfaces for engaging a portion of the revolver reloader, resiliently deflecting the arms to permit the catches to ride over the portion of the reloader and thereafter elastically engage the reloader to hold it within the carrier. Provision is made for riveting the carrier to a leather slide loop or a holster belt to carry a charged revolver reloader ready for immediate use.

Revolver Speed Loader

US Patent:
4065868, Jan 3, 1978
Filed:
Nov 5, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/739087
Inventors:
David A. Johnson - Klamath Falls OR
International Classification:
F42B 3904
US Classification:
42 89
Abstract:
A holder for releasable securement of cartridges in condition for simultaneous loading of the cartridges into the chambers of a revolver's cylinder. The holder comprises a cylindrical body having a plurality of axially extending, radially distributed cartridge-receiving bores adapted to align with and introduce the rounds into the revolver's cylinder chambers. The holder also includes a manually operated cartridge engagement member for axial and rotary movement within the holder body centrally of the bores and having a double star sprocket system whose lateral projections releasably lock each cartridge flange while laterally supporting each cartridge body within the holder in a position of parallelism with a center bore. The holder further includes protected means for releasing the double star sprocket system and thereby releasing the cartridges, when the cartridge ends are in the revolver's cylinder chambers, in response to the pressing of the holder against the rear of the revolver cylinder.

Magazine Latch Release Mechanism

US Patent:
4429479, Feb 7, 1984
Filed:
Apr 26, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/371959
Inventors:
David A. Johnson - Klamath Falls OR
Assignee:
J.F.S., Inc. - Salem OR
International Classification:
F41C 2700
US Classification:
42 6
Abstract:
A magazine latch release mechanism for repeating rifles and the like having a magazine catch carried on an axially movable shaft extending laterally through the receiver of such a weapon is operable by a lever extending downward proximate the rear side of a removable magazine to permit release and removal of the magazine with one hand while the other hand continues to grip the weapon. A sleeve surrounds a portion of the laterally extending shaft within the receiver, part of the sleeve extending outwardly through a receiver wall. The sleeve is pinned to the shaft outside the receiver wall. An end of the latch release lever is pivotably connected to the sleeve within the receiver and the opposite end of the lever extends downwardly from the bottom of the receiver. A fulcrum portion of the lever is located adjacent an interior surface of the receiver, acting to move the sleeve and shaft in a direction opposite that in which the lower end portion of the lever is pressed, to disengage a catch from a removable magazine to release the magazine from the weapon. A cap fits around a portion of the sleeve and shaft exterior of the receiver to limit the extent of axial movement of the shaft.

Spare Magazine Holder

US Patent:
4484404, Nov 27, 1984
Filed:
Sep 13, 1982
Appl. No.:
6/417409
Inventors:
David A. Johnson - Klamath Falls OR
Assignee:
J.F.S., Inc. - Salem OR
International Classification:
F41C 2700, F41C 2500
US Classification:
42 90
Abstract:
A protective carrier for holding a loaded spare magazine in a position of readiness for immediate insertion into operative engagement with a firearm. A latch release mechanism is operable simultaneously with the operation of the magazine release mechanism of the firearm, permitting an empty magazine and a loaded spare magazine to be released together, the empty magazine being allowed to fall clear of the firearm while the loaded spare magazine is grasped and inserted into the weapon for use in a minimum amount of time. The spare magazine carrier of the invention protectively surrounds the open upper end of the spare magazine to shield cartridges held therein against contamination by dirt, mud, and the elements, in order to help avoid malfunction or damage of the weapon.
