Medical Cable Connector For A Medical Lead Providing An Electrical Receptacle That Is Movable Relative To An Outer Body

US Patent:
2011024, Oct 6, 2011
Filed:
Mar 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/069077
Inventors:
Daniel J. Stetson - Blaine MN, US
Carole A. Tronnes - Stillwater MN, US
David W. Lee - Apple Valley MN, US
Assignee:
MEDTRONIC, INC. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
A61N 1/00, H01R 13/56, H01R 43/00
US Classification:
607 2, 439445, 29857
Abstract:
A medical cable connector of a medical cable receives a medical lead while an electrical receptacle within the medical cable connector is placed into a distal position relative to an outer body of the medical cable connector. The electrical receptacle is retracted to a proximal position once insertion of the medical lead into the medical cable connector is completed. The electrical receptacle may be mounted to an inner body which moves relative to the outer body. A biasing member may be present to bias the inner body to a particular position. A slider may be present to provide a clinician with a surface to touch when applying force to position the electrical receptacle in the distal position for insertion of the medical lead. Various other features may be present to facilitate insertion of the medical lead and/or to maintain the position of the electrical receptacle relative to the outer body.

Wireless Communication Device For Medical Telemetry

US Patent:
2013019, Aug 1, 2013
Filed:
Jan 27, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/360496
Inventors:
David W. Lee - Apple Valley MN, US
William C. Phillips - Brooklyn Park MN, US
Yu Wang - Plymouth MN, US
Assignee:
MEDTRONIC, INC. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
G08C 17/02
US Classification:
3408703
Abstract:
A device includes an antenna, a parasitic element, and a telemetry control module. The parasitic element modifies a radiation pattern of the antenna. The parasitic element has an impedance value that is adjustable, and the radiation pattern of the antenna depends on the impedance value of the parasitic element. The telemetry control module is configured to transmit data to a medical device using the antenna, receive data from the medical device using the antenna, and detect communication errors using data that is received from the medical device. Additionally, the telemetry control module is configured to adjust the impedance value of the parasitic element in response to detection of communication errors.

Method And Apparatus For Programming An Implantable Medical Device

US Patent:
7187978, Mar 6, 2007
Filed:
Nov 1, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/002328
Inventors:
Shahram Malek - Plymouth MN, US
Mark A. Christopherson - Shoreview MN, US
Steven Goetz - Brooklyn Center MN, US
John Grevious - Minneapolis MN, US
David W. Lee - Apple Valley MN, US
Assignee:
Medtronic, Inc. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
A61N 1/08
US Classification:
607 59
Abstract:
A method and system for programming settings of a medical device surgically implanted within a body of a patient. The system comprises a physician programmer, a patient programmer, an external neural stimulator, and a telemetry component being in communication with the implanted medical device, the external neural stimulator, and the physician programmer. The implantable medical device may be programmed using a two-phase process, a screening phase and an implant phase. During the screening phase, the physician and patient programmers may be used to roughly test the parameters of the stimulation to determine that the treatment therapy is efficacious. During the implant phase, the same physician and patient programmers may be used to fine tune the parameters of the stimulation.
