Multiple Independent Levels Of Security Containing Multi-Level Security Interface

US Patent:
2009031, Dec 24, 2009
Filed:
Jun 12, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/137668
Inventors:
Darrel J. Price - Edwardsville IL, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/00, G06F 21/00
US Classification:
713166
Abstract:
Methods and systems for enabling security in transferring data from a single level MILS partition to the multiple level LAN. When a frame is received from an external stack via a network interface card, the frame contains a security classification, which is compared to the security classifications assigned to a plurality of internal stacks. Once a match is obtained, the frame is forwarded to the internal stack corresponding to the security classification in the frame assigned by the external stack. When a frame is received from one of the plurality of internal stacks, no security classification exists within the frame. A determination of the security classification assigned to the internal stack, which is then written into a security label in the frame. Once the security label is attached to the frame, the frame is sent to the external stack via a network interface card.

Multi-Level Security Controls System

US Patent:
8479260, Jul 2, 2013
Filed:
Dec 21, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/643256
Inventors:
Darrel J. Price - Edwardsville IL, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
H04L 29/06
US Classification:
726 3
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for processing information. First information is received from a first number of devices at a first number of interfaces configured to receive the first information in a first section of a programmable integrated circuit. The first information is sent to a second section in the programmable integrated circuit. Second information is received at a second number of interfaces in the second section from a second number of devices that generates the second information with a plurality of security levels. The first and second sections are partitioned from each other such that communication between the first and second sections is controlled by the second section. The first and second information are processed to form processed information that is sent to a number of network interfaces in which an identification of a security level within a plurality of security levels is associated with the processed information.

Virtual Local Area Network Switching Device And Associated Computer System And Method

US Patent:
8312533, Nov 13, 2012
Filed:
Oct 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/926688
Inventors:
Darrel J. Price - Edwardsville IL, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
G06F 9/00
US Classification:

Abstract:
A virtual local area network switching device and an associated computer system and method are provided to permit operation in accordance with a plurality of different security classifications. The computer system includes a computer, a virtual local area network switching device and a plurality of peripheral units having different security classifications. The virtual local area network switching device may include a computing device that includes the plurality of ports and that is configured to control communications with the peripheral units in accordance with the respective security classifications. The virtual local area network switching device may also include a memory device configured to store information associating the plurality of the ports with the security classification of the respective peripheral unit. The memory device may also store information associating each port with both a logical address and a physical address of the respective peripheral units.
