Front Mounted Dethatching Apparatus

US Patent:
4910948, Mar 27, 1990
Filed:
Dec 23, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/288977
Inventors:
Danny Nelson - Sappington MO
International Classification:
A01D 5712
US Classification:
56 161
Abstract:
A wheeled vehicle having a pair of forwardly projecting support arms carrying a rotary dethatching drum. A volute housing encloses the upper portion of said dethatching drum and opens for tangential forward discharge above the drum. The drum includes axially-spaced blades mounted in circumferentially staggered array upon a polygonally cross-sectioned shaft. The drum is supported upon a vertically adjustable gauge roller used to set the working depth of the dethatching blades. The dethatching drum is driven in rotation from the wheeled vehicle. L-shaped lever arms project from the wheeled vehicle toward the dethatching drum and support a foot pedal subassembly which permits the dethatching drum and its housing to be lifted upwardly by foot pressure applied by the operator.

Dethatching Apparatus

US Patent:
5036651, Aug 6, 1991
Filed:
Mar 26, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/500027
Inventors:
Danny L. Nelson - Sappington MO
International Classification:
A01B 4500, A01D 3448
US Classification:
56 164
Abstract:
A grass dethatching apparatus which includes a frame adapted for mounting the apparatus on a prime mover vehicle. The frame supports a drum housing which defines a thatch discharge opening in the upper forward side thereof. The drum housing carries a pivotably mounted, vertically adjustable roller on the forward side thereof, and a stationary supporting roller on the rear side thereof. A roller actuation system is used to adjust the position of the vertically adjustable roller. A rotary drum subassembly is mounted in the drum housing for rotation about a horizontal axis, and includes axially and circumferentially spaced blades mounted on spacer sleeves. The sleeves are mounted on an elongated shaft. A thatch-catching bag is detachably mounted on the drum housing at a location for catching thatch discharged through the thatch discharge opening in the housing.
