Seal Assembly For A Fluid Pressure Control Device

Seal Assembly For A Fluid Pressure Control Device

US Patent:
2006009, May 11, 2006
Filed:
Nov 10, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/985305
Inventors:
Michael McCarty - Marshalltown IA, US
Donald Bush - Marshalltown IA, US
Daniel Adams - Marshalltown IA, US
Frederick Catron - Marshalltown IA, US
Michael Frohwein - Clive IA, US
International Classification:
F16K 47/08
US Classification:
137625300
Abstract:
A seal assembly for a fluid pressure control device includes a guide element having a sealing surface and a first guide surface. A throttling element assembly includes a throttling element positionable within a fluid flow path, the assembly defining a mating surface adapted to seal with the guide element sealing surface and a second guide surface sized to slidingly engage the first guide surface of the guide element. A relief void is formed in at least one of the guide element and the throttling element assembly adjacent the first and second guide surfaces to receive loose solid material, thereby to prevent disruption of the seal formed between the sealing surface and the mating surface.

Methods And Apparatus To Assemble Actuators

Methods And Apparatus To Assemble Actuators

US Patent:
2014005, Feb 27, 2014
Filed:
Aug 23, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/593199
Inventors:
Daniel Martin Adams - Marshalltown IA, US
International Classification:
B23P 11/02
US Classification:
29446
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to assemble actuators are described. An example method includes positioning a biasing element in a cavity defined by a housing of an actuator such that the biasing element is in an uncompressed state and at least a portion of the biasing element is to extend outside of the cavity beyond an end defined by the housing; compressing the biasing element to a compressed state until the portion of the biasing element extending outside of the cavity is positioned inside the cavity; coupling a cover to the end of the housing to capture the biasing element in the cavity; and maintaining the biasing element in the compressed state during the coupling such that the biasing element does not engage the cover.

Three-Way Valve With Flow Diverter

Three-Way Valve With Flow Diverter

US Patent:
8122908, Feb 28, 2012
Filed:
Feb 20, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/034117
Inventors:
William E. Wears - Marshalltown IA, US
Daniel M. Adams - Marshalltown IA, US
Ross A. Schade - Ames IA, US
David G. Halm - Haverhill IA, US
Assignee:
Fisher Controls International LLC - Marshalltown IA
International Classification:
F16K 11/044
US Classification:
13762548, 251118
Abstract:
A three-way valve body comprises a throat defining a generally cylindrical throat cavity. At least one flow diverter is carried by the valve body and extends into the throat cavity. The flow diverter advantageously interrupts any circulatory fluid flow within the throat cavity, thereby increasing the efficiency at which fluid flows through the valve body. In one embodiment, the at least one flow diverter can comprise one or more ribs integrally formed with the valve body and disposed parallel to a central axis of the throat cavity.

US Patent:
7578314, Aug 25, 2009
Filed:
Nov 8, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/557697
Inventors:
Michael W. McCarty - Marshalltown IA, US
Donald R. Bush - Marshalltown IA, US
Daniel M. Adams - Marshalltown IA, US

Assignee:
Fisher Controls International LLC - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
F16K 11/06
US Classification:
13762533, 13762537
Abstract:
A seal assembly for a fluid pressure control device includes a guide element having a scaling surface and a first guide surface. A throttling element assembly includes a throttling element positionable within a fluid flow path, the assembly defines a mating surface adapted to seal with the sealing surface, and a second guide surface sized to slidingly engage the first guide surface. A relief void is formed in at least one of the guide element and the throttling element assembly adjacent the first and second guide surfaces to receive loose solid material, to thereby prevent disruption of the seal formed between the sealing surface and the mating surface.
