Molded Container With Hinged Lids Having A Knuckle And Pin Connection

Molded Container With Hinged Lids Having A Knuckle And Pin Connection

US Patent:
7841487, Nov 30, 2010
Filed:
Oct 19, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/252622
Inventors:
Daniel R. Miller - Cincinnati OH, US
Roy B. Luther - Brookfield WI, US
Assignee:
Buckhorn, Inc. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 51/04
US Classification:
220826, 220840, 220836
Abstract:
A container having a bottom and two pairs of opposed walls connected together to form a container body having an open top covered by a pair of hinged lids. The upper edges of one pair of opposed walls have a plurality of pin segments formed thereon along a hinge line and an edge of each of the lids has a plurality of generally U-shaped knuckles formed thereon along the hinge line with each knuckle having opposed sidewalls forming a slot having an opening at one end and a bearing portion at an opposite end which opens upwardly with respect to a top surface of the lid. The opposed sidewalls of the slot of each knuckle have ribs protruding inwardly to retain a corresponding pin segment of the container body. When the lids are connected to the container body and rotated to a closed position, the slots of each knuckle face upwardly in a direction away from the top surface of the lid.

Pallet Having Divided Areas Supporting Separately Removable Portions Of A Pallet Load

Pallet Having Divided Areas Supporting Separately Removable Portions Of A Pallet Load

US Patent:
7543539, Jun 9, 2009
Filed:
Apr 3, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/395330
Inventors:
Daniel R. Miller - Cincinnati OH, US
Assignee:
Buckhorn, Inc. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 19/00
US Classification:
108 5111, 108 521
Abstract:
A pallet for use with forklifts and pallet jacks has entry ways for the tines or blades of the forklift or pallet jack that are aligned with open areas in the top deck of the pallet. This enables removal of a part of the load on the pallet aligned with the open area in the top deck by inserting a tine(s) or blade(s) into one or a pair of the entry ways, raising the tine(s) or blade(s) to pass through the open area in the top deck and engage the part of the load of the pallet. Then, the part of the load can be separately removed from the pallet without disturbing the remainder of the load supported on the pallet. The top deck of the pallet is divided into quadrants, and a load can be assembled on the pallet that is different in one or more of the quadrants.

Collapsible Rectangular Container

Collapsible Rectangular Container

US Patent:
2013014, Jun 13, 2013
Filed:
Nov 23, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/684279
Inventors:
Daniel R. MILLER - Cincinnati OH, US
Assignee:
BUCKHORN, INC. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 6/24
US Classification:
220 429
Abstract:
A collapsible rectangular container includes a container body having a pair of opposed solid side walls, a pair of opposed foldable side walls hingedly connected to the pair of solid side walls and a base end wall and a top end wall removably and slidably connected to ends of the pairs of solid and foldable side walls when the container body is in an erected position. The base and top end walls are removable from the ends of the container body to permit the body to be collapsed into a flat configuration by folding the side walls inwardly when the base and top end walls are removed. The end walls are slidably received on one of the solid side walls when the container body is in a collapsed position. When the containers are collapsed and/or erected, the containers interlock for shipment.

Nesting Box With Reduced Lid Flares

Nesting Box With Reduced Lid Flares

US Patent:
4688675, Aug 25, 1987
Filed:
Feb 27, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/706318
Inventors:
Daniel R. Miller - Cincinnati OH
Thomas P. Deaton - Mason OH
Assignee:
Buckhorn Material Handling Group, Inc. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 2102, B65D 2106
US Classification:
206508
Abstract:
In a plastic molded tote box having one lid or opposed lids that will shingle with other lids in the open position when the box and like boxes are nested, the maximum horizontal dimension for the shingled lids, as measured outwardly from the adjacent box side wall (lid flare), is reduced by tapering the lid rib structure toward the hinge, and/or by tapering the outboard lid skirt toward the hinge, and/or by flaring one or more lid flanges, particularly the inboard flange. The latter two structural features permit increased nesting of the lid side skirts or channels, which in the closed position of the lid overlie the box side walls.

Collapsible Container Having Recessed Lid Locking Latches

Collapsible Container Having Recessed Lid Locking Latches

US Patent:
2005015, Jul 14, 2005
Filed:
Jan 5, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/028578
Inventors:
Daniel Miller - Cincinnati OH, US
International Classification:
B65D006/12
US Classification:
220324000
Abstract:
A container includes a base having both side and end walls connected thereto to form a body having an opening at the top closed by a removable lid. The walls are made of a double walled construction and include an outer panel and an inner panel. An inwardly recessed ledge is formed adjacent the top to receive and mate with a lower rim of the lid. At least one latch member is mounted completely within an upper portion of each of two opposed walls and is movable between a locked and an unlocked position to lock or unlock the lid on the body of the container.

Container With Over Center Corner Latches

Container With Over Center Corner Latches

US Patent:
7032765, Apr 25, 2006
Filed:
Feb 21, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/369731
Inventors:
Daniel R. Miller - Cincinnati OH, US
Paul J. Ficker - Cincinnati OH, US
Assignee:
Buckhorn, Inc. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 6/16
US Classification:
220 7, 220326, 220652, 220654
Abstract:
A container constructed of parts that are injection molded using a synthetic resin molding technique includes a base, side walls and end walls. The side and end walls are movable between a first position in which the side and end walls are collapsed in the interior of the base and a second position in which the side and end walls are erect for being engaged at the corners by over center latches that are also molded of a synthetic resin material. The latches fit within recessed areas of the side or end walls such that when the latches are in a locked or unlocked position, the latches are contained entirely within a recessed area, which is recessed with respect to the exterior surface of the walls. Thus, when the latches are in the latched or unlatched position, the latches do not project outwardly beyond the exterior surface of the walls.

Tote Box With Lid Container

Tote Box With Lid Container

US Patent:
4620644, Nov 4, 1986
Filed:
Mar 27, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/248270
Inventors:
Daniel A. Miller - Cincinnati OH
Assignee:
Buckhorn Material Handling Group Inc. - Milford OH
International Classification:
B65D 4314, B65D 2102, B65D 5104
US Classification:
220334
Abstract:
The adjacent edges for two covers of a tote box have interlocking fingers where separation is resisted by means of hooks on one or more of the covers engaging side flanges of the box to lock the covers in place. The closed covers present a flat surface inset with respect to a plurality of abutments in the vicinity of the sides and ends that prevent side shifting of a like box stacked on top of it. The side abutments have a second function of latching into the end walls to hold the covers in their open position, even when a plurality of like boxes are nested. The latches and locks are unitarily molded into the cover and provided with cam surfaces that together with inherent resiliency of the structure provide for locking and latching by movement of the cover.
