US Patent:
6339209, Jan 15, 2002
Filed:
Nov 12, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/438803
Inventors:
Damian J. Kotecki - Mentor OH
Assignee:
Lincoln Global, Inc. - Monterey Park CA
International Classification:
B23K 3534
US Classification:
21914623, 21914622, 2191461, 21914522, 148 24
Abstract:
A flux for use in arc welding of a stainless steel workpiece with a consumable metal electrode, which welding flux comprises a zirconia containing system for forming a slag on the surface of the deposited weld metal. The flux system contains zirconia, silica and titania. The zirconia and titania are contained the flux system in a ratio of at least 1:1. 5. The flux system can also include a melting control agent, a fluoride, an arc stabilizer, a slag removal agent and/or a bead wetting agent. Also, there is provided an electrode employing this flux.

Filed:
May 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/131685
Inventors:
Damian J. Kotecki - Mentor OH, US
Sudarsanam S. Babu - Knoxville TN, US
Assignee:
Lincol Global, Inc. - City of Industry CA
International Classification:
G01N 3/10, G01N 3/18, G01N 3/36
US Classification:
73797, 73796, 73810
Abstract:
A method for evaluating thermal fatigue resistance for a welding consumable alloy can include the following steps: placing a test specimen of a welding consumable alloy in a testing device such that a tensile load and a compressive load can be introduced to the test specimen; heating the test specimen to a first temperature; applying a compressive force to the test specimen while heating the test specimen; cooling the test specimen to a second temperature; and applying a tensile force to the test specimen while cooling the test specimen.
