Pressure Relief Valve System Including A Pilot Valve Having A Radial Damper Mechanism

US Patent:
6286534, Sep 11, 2001
Filed:
Jan 11, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/481380
Inventors:
Craig F. Bliss - Taunton MA
Assignee:
Anderson, Greenwood LP - Wrentham MA
International Classification:
G05D 1610
US Classification:
137 14
Abstract:
A pressure relief valve system is provided with particular application for use in conjunction with a pressurized system containing an incompressible fluid. The system includes a main pressure relief valve in communication with the pressurized system and a pilot valve in communication with said main pressure relief valve. The pilot valve includes a pilot valve body; a pressure chamber that is always in communication with the system pressure; and a sense piston reciprocal in the pilot valve body and which is exposed to the pressure in the pressure chamber. Damping means are provided on the sense piston to improve control of the opening and closing of the valve system. Preferred damping means include at least one labyrinth damping ring that extends downward from the sense piston and is adapted to engage with an upwardly extended damping ring on a hydraulic damping plate. At least one labyrinth ring is adapted to engage at least one complimentary upwardly extending annular piston ring positioned below the sense piston so as to define a sense piston chamber which serves to provide a damping effect on the operation of the valve system.

Abstract:
The combination washer/dryer and method for operating a combination washer/dryer. The washer/dryer has a containment drum which receives wash water, and includes a perforated clothes drum which rotates within the containment drum. A heat plenum is provided in heat transfer relationship with the containment drum, and a source of heat coupled to the heat plenum supplies heat for water in the containment drum. During a drying cycle, hot air from the heat source supplied from the fire box to the containment drum for heating wash water during a washing cycle, and for supplying hot air during a drying cycle. A drying air plenum is connected to receive drying air from the source of heat, delivering the drying air to the top of the containment drum, where it enters the rotating basket. An exhaust plenum discharges hot air laden with moisture from the containment drum through a lint filter.

David J. Dugas - Mansfield MA, US
Peter S. Hughes - South Harwich MA, US
Assignee:
Vectrix International Limited - Kwai Chung
International Classification:
G05G 1/10
US Classification:
74504
Abstract:
A vehicle power control includes a throttle housing; a throttle rotatable relative to the throttle housing; a throttle position mechanism assembly housed at least partially within the throttle housing and including a magnetic member and a sensor rotatable with respect to each other in the housing, the throttle position mechanism operably coupled to the throttle so that rotation of the throttle translates into linear movement, which translates into rotation of the magnetic member and the sensor relative to each other so that sensor generate a signal based on sensed position of the magnetic member for controlling motive power of a vehicle.
