Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist
USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44)
Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) qualification recognizes the efforts of a select group of enlisted individuals trained in surface ship operations. Attainment of the ESWS designation signifies that a member has achieved a level of excellence above and beyond that of his peers in proficiency in surface ships. The ESWS pin signifies that the wearer is fully competent in his rate, as well as in the areas of damage control, maintenance and material management, safety, watchstanding, and general knowledge of engineering and combat systems. Wearers of the ESWS pin stand out as significant contributors to the Surface Force.
Three Navy Achievement Medal
USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44)
The award is given for meritorious service or achievement in a combat or noncombat situation based on sustained performance or specific achievement of a superlative nature, and shall be of such merit as to warrant more tangible recognition than is possible by a fitness report or evaluation sheet, but which does not warrant a Navy Commendation Medal or higher.
Navy Good Conduct Medal
USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44)
The Good Conduct Medal is awarded to any active-duty enlisted member of the United States military who completes three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service". Such service implies that a standard enlistment was completed without any non-judicial punishments, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offenses. If a service member commits an offense, the three-year mark "resets" and a service member must perform an additional three years of service without having to be disciplined, before the Good Conduct may be authorized.
