Mobile Loader For Transfer Of Containers Between Delivery Vehicles And Marine Terminal Cranes

US Patent:
7322786, Jan 29, 2008
Filed:
Jan 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/758555
Inventors:
Rafael Rivera - Magnolia NJ, US
Christopher Clemmer - Allentown PA, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy - Washington DC
International Classification:
B60P 3/00, B60P 9/00, B65G 67/60
US Classification:
414460, 4141403, 414392, 414631, 414347
Abstract:
A mobile loader is driven to a dockside location underlying the spreader bar of a marine terminal crane. A delivery vehicle such as a train or a truck is driven into the loader at such dockside location so that containers maybe transferred between the delivery vehicle and a platform located within the loader in lateral adjacency to the delivery vehicle. Motorized devices are provided for respectively transferring containers between the delivery vehicle and the platform, aligning the platform below the spreader bar, elevating the platform toward the overlying crane spreader bar to reduce its required descent for attachment to the container and aligning the crane spreader bar as it descends onto a container. A sensor grid is provided in the loader for sensing variations in size and location of containers on the delivery vehicle relative to a hoist and the crane spreader bar for controlling its adjustment to provide for precise placement of containers on the platform in underlying relation to the crane spreader bar by the motorized devices.

Multi-Rail Dual Hoisting Crane

US Patent:
6976599, Dec 20, 2005
Filed:
Jan 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/758557
Inventors:
Rafael Rivera - Magnolia NJ, US
Christopher Clemmer - Allentown PA, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy - Washington DC
International Classification:
B66C019/00
US Classification:
212325, 212312
Abstract:
Containers are respectively loaded onto and delivered from two trolleys of a single crane at pick-up and delivery locations by guided travel along a fixed travel path on a boom between the delivery location at one end of the boom and a central structure of the crane with a platform positioned thereon having a pair of parallel spaced track paths. Lateral movement of the platform alternatively aligns one of the parallel track paths with the fixed travel path to accommodate transfer of the trolleys along such fixed travel path and either one of the track paths on the platform between the pick-up and delivery locations.

Turn-Table Dual Hoisting Crane

US Patent:
6981598, Jan 3, 2006
Filed:
Jan 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/758560
Inventors:
Rafael Rivera - Magnolia NJ, US
Christopher Clemmer - Allentown PA, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy - Washington DC
International Classification:
B66C 19/00
US Classification:
212325, 212312
Abstract:
Containers are respectively loaded onto and delivered from two trolleys of a single crane at pick-up and delivery locations by guided travel of one of the trolleys along a fixed travel path on a boom between the delivery location at one end of the boom and a turn-table platform of the crane on which a pair of angularly related track paths are established for alternative alignment with the fixed travel path on the boom, to accommodate transfer of the trolleys between such fixed travel path and either one of the track paths on the platform.

Container Conveyor Load Transfer

US Patent:
H002162, Jul 4, 2006
Filed:
Aug 29, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/650679
Inventors:
Rafael Rivera - Magnolia NJ, US
Christopher Clemmer - Allentown PA, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Navy - Washington DC
International Classification:
B63B 27/00
US Classification:
4141399, 4141394, 4141403, 414141, 4141413, 4141414, 4141416, 414266
Abstract:
A wheel supported conveyor having a central platform crane section disposed between opposite end crane sections is positioned in underlying relation to a container holding spreader of a dockside terminal crane for transfer of containers to and from the chassis of trucks moved into loading positions without obstruction along parallel spaced passage lanes formed in the end crane sections. Sections of a roller track are respectively associated with each of the conveyor crane sections for displacement of the containers laterally between a common track path and the truck passage lanes. Container spreaders are slidably mounted on the end crane sections effecting said lateral displacement of containers between the truck passage lanes and the common roller track path.

Bi-Level Dual Hoisting Container Transport Crane

US Patent:
H002178, Feb 6, 2007
Filed:
Aug 29, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/650678
Inventors:
Rafael Rivera - Magnolia NJ, US

International Classification:
B66C 17/00
US Classification:
212316, 212318, 1411403, 1411413
Abstract:
Containers are transported by movement of upper and lower trolleys along vertically spaced travel paths established by laterally spaced rails formed in a boom supported in a horizontal position by suspension cables attached to a frame assembly through which the boom extends horizontally between container receiving and delivery locations.
