It's all about building relationships with people, discussing all the medical options and making patients feel they're part of the decision-making process. My place is to provide guidance that creates a positive outcome. It's a shared role. I also have a strong passion for preventive health care. It's easy to see the importance of maintaining blood pressure or watching cholesterol after you have a heart attack. It's far better to get motivated early and prevent take steps to prevent that heart attack from ever occurring. I really like people to feel they have an honest, open connection with us not only me as the doctor, but everybody in our office. That's what we try to build. I have a patient who brings me jars of her homemade salsa. That kind of family connection means so much to me.
