Method For Sealing Flat Panel Displays And Bonding Optical Component Parts

US Patent:
2003020, Nov 6, 2003
Filed:
May 1, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/136704
Inventors:
Chau Ha - Chicago IL, US
International Classification:
B32B031/00
US Classification:
156/275700, 428/615000
Abstract:
A method for assembling a flat panel display is disclosed whereby the conductive layers disposed on the inside surfaces of the two panels to be laminated are connected or laminated together with a pressure-sensitive adhesive or a latent-cure adhesive. Protective insulating layers on the conductive layers disposed on the inside surfaces of the panels have been eliminated. The adhesive connecting the opposing conductive layers serves as a suitable insulating layer. An improved flat panel display whereby the conductive layers on opposing panels is connected with either a latent-cure adhesive or a pressure-sensitive adhesive is also disclosed. Methods of laminating panels of EL displays and methods of laminating substrates of optoelectronic devices are also disclosed.

Low-Refractive Index Layer, Ar Coatings Having Such A Layer And Methods For Producing Them

US Patent:
2007001, Jan 11, 2007
Filed:
Jul 6, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/175728
Inventors:
Chau Ha - Chicago IL, US
International Classification:
C08F 8/00, C08L 27/00
US Classification:
525129000
Abstract:
A low refractive index layer for anti-reflection film applications includes a fluorinated copolymer as the principal low refractive index material. The fluorinated copolymer is soluble in a non-halogenated organic solvent, enabling deposition of the low refractive index layer of uniform thickness onto conventional substrates via conventional wet coating processes, but without the need for or use of expensive and environmentally unfriendly halogenated solvents. Coating compositions for depositing such a low refractive index layer and methods of depositing them also are disclosed.

Radiation-Curable Flame Retardant Optical Fiber Coatings

US Patent:
2004003, Feb 26, 2004
Filed:
Aug 22, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/225953
Inventors:
Claire Lepont - Chicago IL, US
Long Ha - Palatine IL, US
Chau Ha - Chicago IL, US
International Classification:
G02B006/16
US Classification:
385/128000
Abstract:
A buffer coating for optical fibers is disclosed which includes a halogenated epoxy resin for flame-retardancy, and elastomer modified epoxy resin for tensile strength and flexibility, a low viscosity bisphenol resin for structural integrity, a viscosity modifier for improved process or extrusion properties, a polyol to increase the cure rate and cross-linking during curing, a slip agent or surfactant to reduce the adhesion of the buffer layer to the cladding and to further improve the flow characteristics during extrusion, and a photo-initiator. The buffer layer is flame-retardant and has a fast UV cure rate.
