Abstract:
A device used in overhead power distribution systems to serve solely as a cable coupler, i. e. join or splice a pair of flexible connecting cables having a plug-in connector at opposite ends or alternatively slightly modified so to serve as a wiring adaptor, i. e. to be secured to a unit to be energized and provide the power either from a single flexible cable or from a pair of flexible cables which are spliced together. A typical example of a unit to be energized is an overhead lighting fixture or a service pole.

A power-telephone service pole having a cover which is removable simply by being pried off when the pole is installed so that the telephone compartment is readily available and having a T-bar/tie-rod hanger and a power junction box which cooperate with the removable cover to permit the pole to be quickly installed or relocated together with a pedestal adapting the pole alternately for use on tile or on carpet and for being spotted in position by means of floor studs or screws.

Abstract:
The box has a base for mounting on a surface and a cover secured to the base by screws. A pair of tabs are disposed close to the base end of the cover and each tab captivates a screw. Assembly of cover to base is simplified because the cover can be held in one hand while a screw driver in the other hand turns the screws. Inventory is reduced because a single length of screw is employed irrespective of box depth.
