Dr. Adams is dedicated to providing the finest and most thorough eye care to children and adults. Eye teaming, tracking and focusing require indepth testing to achieve maximum performance for the student, an adult who has suffered a head injury or someone who has a difficulty seeing. As a behavioral optometrist, I will also measure your functional vision. There may be deficits in this area if you have reading problems such as eye strain, fluctuating vision that will not stay clear, words that float off the page or even headaches. These types of deficits do not respond well to eyeglasses or contact lenses which is why some students and adults continue to have problems after a routine exam. I can also evaluate your perceptual skills. Visual perception involves not only the eyes but also the brain and how it interprets and organizes information. A person with this type of disorder tends to avoid reading and writing. They tend to reverse letters and numbers. Eye glasses alone do not solve perceptual problems. While a routine exam is a good start it may not address all your concerns.
