Abstract:
An adjustable childrens rocking chair is shown that can be readily converted without the use of tools between a configuration where it is used to support an infant in a more reclined position, and a configuration where it is suitable for use as a rocking chair by a toddler. The rocking chair includes a seat portion, a support portion connected to the seat portion, and the support portion being pivotably connected to a rocker base and being adjustable in length. The support portion includes a front frame assembly, such as a pair of front legs, and a rear frame assembly, such as a pair of rear legs, with each of the front legs being pivotably connected to a respective rear leg through a detachable joint. The seat portion includes a back support portion that is formed by a U-shaped seat back tube slipped inside a pocket in soft goods. Both ends of the U-shaped seat back tube are connected to the detachable joints pivotably connecting the rear legs to the front legs.

A frame for a child seat includes an upper frame and a lower frame connected to the upper frame. A play yard has an oval-shaped upper frame. The upper frame is made of two u-shaped tubes and is supported by two vertical posts at either end of the play yard. The ends of each of the u-shaped tubes of the upper frame are connected to each post so as to be able to rotate about the posts. Located on each post is a slider which can slide up and down the post. Each slider is held in place by a button on each post. Diagonal support braces connect the sliders to each of the u-shaped tubes of the upper frame. When the play yard is in use, the upper frame is supported by the two vertical posts and the diagonal support braces located on either side of the play yard. The lower end of each post is connected to two opposing cantilevered legs at a hub. Each of the legs is substantially u-shaped and is pivotally connected at the hub in order to be able to rotate about the posts.

A removable front wheel assembly for a stroller is provided that is able to be disassembled from the stroller frame for shipment and assembled by the consumer upon receipt for use. The invention has applicability to any stroller configuration where, in the stroller's folded configuration, the front wheel assembly comprises the outer-most structure of the stroller which defines at least one dimension for the shipping cube of the stroller. The front wheel assembly, which is comprised of the stroller's wheels, lower front leg tubes, framing support structure, and a footrest, if provided, is joined to the stroller frame at a location external to an outer-most frame structure hinge point so as to reduce the complexity of the task of assembling the stroller for the consumer. A swaged joint and connector is utilized to connect the lower front leg tubes of the front wheel assembly to the upper front leg tubes of the stroller's frame.
