Philosophy:
We strive to be a physician practice dedicated to state-of-the-art care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases. We perform most endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and are skilled in the therapeutic maneuvers associated with each.
Dr Kavanaugh joined the practice August 2010. He specializes in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has training in the endoscopic management of pancreatic and biliary disorders in addition to standard diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. His clinical interests are the management of inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac sprue, irritable bowel syndrome, and capsule endoscopy.
Dr Kavanaugh received his undergraduate and MasterâÂÂs degrees in biology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. He then attended medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, completing his degree in 2003. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While he was an intern, he was honored with the âÂÂIntern of the Yearâ award, nominated by peers and faculty for outstanding performance during internship. Dr Kavanaugh accepted an offer to become Chief Medical Resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to supervise in the training of medical residents and students for one year. Following that, he completed his gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship training at Thomas Jefferson University hospital in 2010.
Dr Kavanaugh is a member of the ASGE, ACG, and AGA. While he is trained in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology, he has special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac disease, and capsule endoscopy.
His personal interests include hiking, skiing, camping, and mountain biking. He enjoys these activities with his wife and four boys. As a native of the northeastern United States, he is in constant awe of the beauty of Colorado.
