Antigen Of Blastomyces Dermatitidis And Its Uses

US Patent:
5093118, Mar 3, 1992
Filed:
Sep 14, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/406999
Inventors:
Bruce S. Klein - Madison WI
Jeffrey M. Jones - Madison WI
Assignee:
Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation - Madison WI
International Classification:
G01N 33532, C07K 1510
US Classification:
424 88
Abstract:
A cell wall protein of the fungus B. dermatitidis is isolated and purified. The protein is readily recognized by serum antibodies from animals having blastomycosis. The protein antigen can be labelled to provide an assay for detection of the disease, it can be used to stimulate specific lymphocyte response and thereby provide another assay for detection of the disease, it can be used to produce an immune response to B. dermatitidis, or it can be used to create antibodies to the protein.

Isolation And Application Of Bad-1 For Diagnosing Infections With Blastomyces Dermatitidis

US Patent:
2013016, Jun 27, 2013
Filed:
Dec 19, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/720513
Inventors:
Bruce Klein - Madison WI, US
Theodore Brandhorst - Madison WI, US
International Classification:
C07K 14/37, G01N 33/68
US Classification:
435 792, 530413, 435 71, 435 711, 530350
Abstract:
Methods for obtaining highly pure native, recombinant or modified BAD-1 protein include the steps of culturing a population of microbes expressing BAD-1 protein in a culture medium, collecting the population of microbes from the culture medium, obtaining a BAD-1 protein-containing solution, and purifying the BAD-1 protein from the solution by combining the BAD-1 protein-containing solution with a nickel-chelating resin, washing the nickel-chelating resin to remove unbound matter, and eluting the BAD-1 protein from the nickel-chelating resin. Highly pure native BAD-1 protein may be used in diagnostic kits for detecting infections in animals.

Dna Coding For An Antigen Of Blastomyces Dermatitidis

US Patent:
5302530, Apr 12, 1994
Filed:
Feb 16, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/021537
Inventors:
Bruce S. Klein - Madison WI
Laura H. Hogan - Madison WI
Jeffrey M. Jones - Madison WI
Assignee:
Wisconsin Alumni Research Association - Madison WI
International Classification:
C12N 1570
US Classification:
4353201
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a c-DNA coding for an antigen of B. dermatitidis. The antigen can readily be expressed in quantity at high purity from the cDNA, and the antigen can then be used for assays for the disease. The unique sequence This invention was made with United States Government support awarded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), Grant Nos. AI-00905 and AI-31479. The United States Government has certain rights in this invention.
