Soft Cartridge Package For A Photoreceptor Belt And Method Of Manufacturing Soft Cartridge Package Including Method Of Loading Photoreceptor Belt Using Soft Cartridge Package

Soft Cartridge Package For A Photoreceptor Belt And Method Of Manufacturing Soft Cartridge Package Including Method Of Loading Photoreceptor Belt Using Soft Cartridge Package

US Patent:
6014535, Jan 11, 2000
Filed:
Dec 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/209189
Inventors:
James E. Zenk - St. Paul MN
Randy A. Bierwerth - Oakdale MN
John D. Watson - Centerville MN
Bruce W. Carlson - Minneapolis MN
Brett R. Johnson - St. Paul MN
Assignee:
Imation Corp. - Oakdale MN
International Classification:
G03G 1500, G03G 2100
US Classification:
399116
Abstract:
A cartridge device for packaging an endless, organic photoreceptor belt of an electrophotographic printer. The cartridge device is a closed loop support structure manufactured of a resilient material around which the endless belt extends. The resilient support structure has a belt loading configuration, that substantially duplicates the configuration of the endless belt when the belt is mounted onto support rollers of the electrophotographic printer. By replicating the configuration of the support rollers, loading of the belt onto the rollers is facilitated using the cartridge device. The resilient support structure also has a compact configuration that requires less volume than the belt loading configuration. The compact configuration of the cartridge device minimizes shipping volume and storage space requirements for replacement photoreceptor belts. In both the belt loading configuration and the compact configuration, the cartridge device substantially protects the photoreceptor belt from inadvertent damage that would adversely affect the image reproduction quality of the replacement belt.

Triangle-Shaped Movable Shutter For Data Storage Diskette Cartridge

Triangle-Shaped Movable Shutter For Data Storage Diskette Cartridge

US Patent:
5631792, May 20, 1997
Filed:
Sep 13, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/527490
Inventors:
Bruce W. Carlson - Minneapolis MN
Jon R. Clark - Minneapolis MN
William M. Dunbar - Cottage Grove MN
Assignee:
Imation Corp. - Oakdale MN
International Classification:
G11B 2303
US Classification:
360133
Abstract:
A cartridge for a disc-shaped recording medium, the cartridge including a cover shell and a base shell which house a flexible, magnetic recording medium therebetween. A movable shutter is provided along a front edge of the cartridge for covering, when in the closed position, an opening in each shell which allows a read/write head to access the recording medium. The shutter is windowless and has triangle-shaped portions which cover the read/write head access openings. The shutter includes a raised rib along its periphery and has a rounded corner. A raised rib may also be provided on the cartridge shell adjacent the read/write head access opening to prevent debris particles from entering the interior of the cartridge via the head access opening. The shutter is reinforced to prevent bending and has a rounded corner to minimize the chance that the shutter corner will become snagged on some other object, such as loose clothing.

Protective Cover Package For An Organic Photoreceptor Belt

Protective Cover Package For An Organic Photoreceptor Belt

US Patent:
6097912, Aug 1, 2000
Filed:
Dec 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/209298
Inventors:
John D. Watson - Centerville MN
Henry C. Gydesen - Oakdale MN
James E. Zenk - St. Paul MN
Donald J. Goetzke - Woodbury MN
Bruce W. Carlson - Minneapolis MN
Claire A. Jalbert - St. Paul MN
Assignee:
Imation Corp. - Oakdale MN
International Classification:
G03G 1500
US Classification:
399116
Abstract:
Disclosed is a protective cover package for an endless, organic photoreceptor belt of an electrophotographic printer. The protective cover package is a flexible, closed loop sheet member which extends about an outer, photoreceptor coated surface of the endless belt. The photoreceptor coated surface of the endless belt is releasably secured to an inner surface of the sheet member, such that the sheet member supports the belt, and protects the photoreceptor surface from damage that would adversely affect the image reproduction quality of the belt. The sheet member has a belt loading configuration, that substantially duplicates the configuration of the endless belt when the belt is mounted onto support rollers of the electrophotographic printer. By replicating the configuration of the support rollers, loading of the belt onto the rollers is facilitated using the protective cover package. The sheet member also has a compact configuration that requires less volume than the belt loading configuration.

Hard Cartridge Package For An Organic Photoreceptor Belt

Hard Cartridge Package For An Organic Photoreceptor Belt

US Patent:
6049682, Apr 11, 2000
Filed:
Dec 10, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/208971
Inventors:
Donald J. Goetzke - Woodbury MN
Randy A. Bierwerth - Oakdale MN
James E. Zenk - St. Paul MN
John D. Watson - Centerville MN
Bruce W. Carlson - Minneapolis MN
Assignee:
Imation Corp. - Oakdale MN
International Classification:
G03G 1500, G03G 2100
US Classification:
399116
Abstract:
Disclosed is a cartridge device for packaging an endless, organic photoreceptor belt of an electrophotographic printer. The cartridge device includes a substantially rigid, closed loop support structure and a resilient mechanism. The resilient mechanism engages the endless belt and releasably holds the belt against an inner surface of the support structure. The resilient mechanism holds the endless belt so that the belt substantially conforms to the shape of the support structure. The shape of the support structure essentially duplicates the configuration of the endless belt when the belt is mounted onto support rollers of the electrophotographic printer. By replicating the configuration of the support rollers, loading of a replacement photoreceptor belt onto the rollers is facilitated using the cartridge device. The cartridge device substantially protects the photoreceptor belt from inadvertent damage that would adversely affect the image reproduction quality of the replacement belt.
