Automated Battery Scanning, Repair, And Optimization

US Patent:
2011010, May 5, 2011
Filed:
Nov 2, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/917806
Inventors:
BRUCE ERIC ZEIER - Romoland CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/00
US Classification:
700 90
Abstract:
A method of servicing a battery may include connecting a battery to a battery servicing apparatus including an automated electronic system; measuring, by the automated electronic system, a first set of metrics associated with the a battery cell; selecting, automatically by the automated electronic system, a maintenance action based at least in part upon the measured first set of metrics; directing, by the automated electronic system, performance of the maintenance action on the battery cell by an ancillary device; and/or measuring, by the automated electronic system, a second set of metrics associated with the battery cell after performance of the maintenance action. The automated electronic system may be configured to gather data using one or more probes and/or clamps associated with the battery cell. The automated electronic system may include a memory configured to store data and/or a processing unit configured to direct operation of the ancillary device.

Fluid Control System With Automatic Recovery Feature

US Patent:
2002014, Oct 3, 2002
Filed:
Apr 2, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/114970
Inventors:
Bruce Zeier - Romoland CA, US
Anthony Chan - Sierra Madre CA, US
International Classification:
H02P009/04, F03B013/00, F03B013/10
US Classification:
290/043000
Abstract:
A fluid control method includes providing fluid flow through a conduit having a pressure sensitive shutdown valve; driving an electrical power generator with the turbine wheel and delivering electrical power to a storage battery which in-turn powers the components of the system. The method further includes: detecting turbine RPM; calculating volume flow rate from the RPM value and conversion factors input to a computer program. Next, it is determined if average or peak flow rates exceed set point values and creating a shut down signal if it is true so as to close the shutdown valve. A fluid pressure delta is therefore established across the shutdown valve and it is only opened when fluid pressure equilibrium is restored across the valve after break or leak repair and after slowly refilling the downstream system.

Simulator For Aircraft Flight Training

US Patent:
2003021, Nov 27, 2003
Filed:
Feb 26, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/376641
Inventors:
Bruce Zeier - Romoland CA, US
International Classification:
G09B009/08, G09B019/16
US Classification:
434/033000
Abstract:
A flight simulating apparatus is capable of directing combinations of elevation, yaw, roll, pitch and three-space accelerations to a cockpit. Continuous rotation is provided by a rotational drive and elevation, roll and pitch are provided by linear positioning devices engaged with the rotational drive and extending upwardly from it. An x-y table and the elevation linear positioning device provide accelerating forces.

Simulator For Aircraft Flight Training

US Patent:
2001004, Nov 15, 2001
Filed:
Jan 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/774777
Inventors:
Bruce Zeier - Romoland CA, US
International Classification:
G09B009/08
US Classification:
434/033000
Abstract:
A flight simulator apparatus capable of directing elevation, rotation, yaw, roll and pitch control of a an operators cockpit and linear motions in the horizontal x-y plane. A first linear actuator is engaged with a rotation actuator for providing motion about a vertical axis of rotation. The first actuator is enabled for vertical positioning of a gimbally mounted cockpit. A second actuator is engaged for positioning the cockpit using opposing linear hydraulic pistons. A third and fourth linear actuators, preferably linear motors drive the entire apparatus in mutually orthogonal horizontal directions for simulating linear inertial forces in the cockpit.

Lead Acid Battery De-Sulfation

US Patent:
8330428, Dec 11, 2012
Filed:
Nov 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/590466
Inventors:
Bruce Eric Zeier - Romoland CA, US
International Classification:
H02J 7/00
US Classification:
320166, 320139
Abstract:
A de-sulfating device including a plurality of capacitive discharge channels selectively activatable by a control board to provide a pulse wave modulated de-sulfating current to a lead-acid battery. Some exemplary embodiments may provide a de-sulfating current comprising a repeating pattern including an about 0. 75 ms ON pulse followed by an about 4. 5 ms OFF period, which may be applied to the battery at an operator-adjustable peak amperage of about 0-350 amps. The extent of sulfation of the battery may be ascertained by measuring the impedance of the battery.
