Method And Apparatus To Control Power Drawn By A Measurement Device

US Patent:
6476522, Nov 5, 2002
Filed:
May 31, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/584816
Inventors:
Paul J. Hays - Lafayette CO
William M. Mansfield - Lafayette CO
Brian T. Smith - Johnstown CO
Assignee:
Micro Motion, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
H01H 326
US Classification:
307140, 324 7611, 324713, 307 31
Abstract:
To increase power to a measurement device, the measurement device measures a first voltage across the measurement device. The measurement device then determines an operating current based on the first voltage. The operating current is a maximum current that the measurement device draws without dropping a measurement device voltage below a threshold voltage to prevent resetting of the measurement device. The measurement device then generates a signal to change the power to use the operating current.

Coriolis Flow Meter And Method For Determining A Signal Difference In Cabling And First And Second Pickoff Sensors

US Patent:
7694584, Apr 13, 2010
Filed:
Jun 14, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/570354
Inventors:
Brian T. Smith - Johnstown CO, US
Craig B. McAnally - Thornton CO, US
Assignee:
Micro Motion, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
G01F 1/84
US Classification:
73861354
Abstract:
A Coriolis flow meter includes first and second pickoff sensors, cabling coupled to the first and second pickoff sensors, and a signal injection device coupled to the cabling. The signal injection device is configured to generate one or more reference signals, with the one or more reference signals being substantially identical in phase, and communicate the one or more reference signals into the cabling and the first and second pickoff sensors. The Coriolis flow meter further includes a signal conditioning circuit coupled to the cabling. The signal conditioning circuit is configured to receive first and second response signals from the cabling and the first and second pickoff sensors in response to the one or more reference signals and determine a signal difference between first and second response signals.

Method And Apparatus For Proving Flow Meters

US Patent:
7716963, May 18, 2010
Filed:
Aug 24, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/573981
Inventors:
Mark James Bell - Arvada CO, US
Brian T. Smith - Johnstown CO, US
Assignee:
Micro Motion, Inc. - Boulder CO
International Classification:
G01F 25/00, G01F 1/84
US Classification:
73 134, 73 123
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is disclosed that determines the time delay () between the actual flow and the measured flow in a flow meter. The time delay is used to shift the flow measured by the flow meter to correspond to the actual flow measured by a prover or calibration system. In this way an accurate comparison is made between the flow measured by the flow meter and the flow provided by the prover.
