Method Of Correcting Vision Problems Using Only A Photodisruption Laser

US Patent:
2013011, May 2, 2013
Filed:
Oct 26, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/317711
Inventors:
Brian S. Boxer Wachler - Santa Monica CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 9/01
US Classification:
606 5
Abstract:
A method for correcting myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and multi-focal vision problems is accomplished without the use of a microkeratome or an Excimer laser by using a photodisruption laser such as a femtosecond (“FS”) laser to form a flap of varying thicknesses and radii of curvature. This procedure enables a refractive surgeon to reshape the cornea by controlling the shrinkage of the cornea's collagen fibers.

Ophthalmological Zonular Stretch Segment For Treating Presbyopia

Ophthalmological Zonular Stretch Segment For Treating Presbyopia

US Patent:
2009001, Jan 15, 2009
Filed:
Sep 24, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/236968
Inventors:
Brian S. Boxer Wachler - Santa Monica CA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/14
US Classification:
623 41
Abstract:
The invention comprises a device for treating presbyopia. A stretch segment is provided for intraocular implantation into the annular sulcus region defined by the intersection of the iris and ciliary body. The stretch segment engages and exerts an outward radial tension against the ciliary body. The segment is designed to take up slack in the equatorial zonules in the presbyopic eye, such that their effective working distance is enhanced. This aids in the accommodation process which affects the curvature of the lens for near viewing. The segment may a closed ring, or may be open ended.
