Actuator And Hood For Dispensing Device

Actuator And Hood For Dispensing Device

US Patent:
5232127, Aug 3, 1993
Filed:
Oct 30, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/785041
Inventors:
Robert A. Trotta - Pembroke MA
Brian A. Rogers - South Boston MA
Stephen C. Metcalf - West Newton MA
Assignee:
The Gillette Company - Boston MA
International Classification:
B67D 116
US Classification:
222108
Abstract:
A dispenser device for a foam producing gel includes an actuator and a hood, the actuator being mounted at the top of a gel container and having an inlet contacting the valve stem of the gel container and a nozzle having an outlet directed radially outwardly from the top of the container. The hood is open at the bottom and engages the outer surface of the actuator to cover the actuator when not in use. An opening is provided in the hood and a notch in the rim of the opening contacts a detent on the outer surface of the actuator to ensure that the hood opening is opposite the nozzle outlet of the actuator when the hood is in place. The hood opening when so positioned serves to inhibit excess foaming of gel remaining between the actuator inlet and nozzle outlet when the hood is in place after usage, and a notch is formed in the nozzle structure below the actuator outlet to provide a path of flow downwardly from the outlet as foamed product expands outwardly from the outlet.

Skin Engaging Member

Skin Engaging Member

US Patent:
6298558, Oct 9, 2001
Filed:
Jun 30, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/497194
Inventors:
Mingchih Michael Tseng - Hingham MA
Yuling Yin - Quincy MA
Frank E. Badin - Scituate MA
Brian A. Rogers - South Boston MA
Lee K. Lim - Bethesda MD
Assignee:
The Gillette Company - Boston MA
International Classification:
B26B 2144
US Classification:
30 41
Abstract:
This relates to an improved skin engaging member for use in razor blade; cartridge assemblies and shaving systems of the wet shave type. In an embodiment, there is provided a two-component, control-release shaving device consisting of(a) a sheath layer made from thermoplastic resins with openings therein and (b) a core region containing internal shaving aids. Potentially, the device can maintain surface appearance, control-release the shaving aids, minimize the degradation of the shaving aids, and prevent the shaving aids from being trapping in a strip. Furthermore, the addition of low-melt additives to the shaving aids becomes feasible and the compatibility between the shaving aids and the shaving aid carrier such as polystyrene in the lubricating strip composite becomes less critical.

Shaving System

Shaving System

US Patent:
5113585, May 19, 1992
Filed:
Sep 28, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/589678
Inventors:
Brian A. Rogers - South Boston MA
Mingchih M. Tseng - Hingham MA
Assignee:
The Gillette Company - Boston MA
International Classification:
B26B 1940, B26B 2114, B26B 2140
US Classification:
30 41
Abstract:
A shaving unit comprises at least one blade and a shaving composite that has a surface for engaging the user's skin adjacent the blade edge. The shaving unit may be of a disposable cartridge type adapted for coupling to and uncoupling from a razor handle or may be integral with a handle so that the complete razor is discarded as a unit when the blade or blades become dulled. The blade edge (or edges) cooperate with skin engaging surfaces to define shaving geometry. The shaving aid composite is a mixture of water insoluble matrix material, an effective amount of shaving aid material, and a water soluble low molecular weight release enhancing agent that enhances the releasability of the shaving aid material from the matrix material.
