Safety Suture Cutting Device And Related Methods

US Patent:
8465512, Jun 18, 2013
Filed:
Apr 5, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/080367
Inventors:
Branden D. Rosenhan - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/32
US Classification:
606167
Abstract:
A sheath for use with a scalpel cutting device including a sheath body configured to cover a scalpel blade at a distal end of a scalpel cutting device. The sheath advantageously may include a plurality of slots formed therein. Providing two or more slots provides additional functionality and/or ease of manufacturing. A single sheath configuration including a plurality of slots (e. g. , two) may be manufactured so as to be used with scalpels including somewhat different blade configurations (e. g. , which may require a slightly different slot location). Such a universal sheath allows a single sheath design to be used with multiple scalpels, easing manufacture and reducing costs. In addition, depending on the particular location of the slots and the configuration of the scalpel blade, the different slots may each intersect the scalpel blade and provide different characteristics for cutting a suture.

Safety Suture Cutting Device And Method

US Patent:
2013028, Oct 24, 2013
Filed:
Jun 18, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/921054
Inventors:
Branden D. Rosenhan - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/04
US Classification:
606138
Abstract:
A sheath for use with a scalpel cutting device including a sheath body configured to cover a scalpel blade at a distal end of a scalpel cutting device. The sheath advantageously includes a slot formed therein that extends from a first end at an edge of the sheath body to a second end adjacent the scalpel blade so that the slot intersects the blade and the blade is exposed only within the second end of the slot. The slot is configured such that an angle between a guiding side wall of the slot and the scalpel blade at the point of intersection is greater than 105° and less than 180°. In another embodiment, the ratio of the length of the shortest side wall to slot width is at least 2.

Scrub Brush

US Patent:
2013027, Oct 24, 2013
Filed:
Apr 2, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/855393
Inventors:
BRANDEN D. ROSENHAN - Salt Lake City UT, US
Assignee:
Tech Swerve LLC - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
A61B 19/00
US Classification:
1510494
Abstract:
A scrub brush for cleaning arms, hands, and fingernails includes a reservoir for applying an antiseptic or cleaning composition and first and second groups of bristles having different relative flexibilities. The reservoir can be an absorbent open-foam material capable of absorbing and holding a liquid cleaning composition. The first bristles are designed to gently cleanse skin surfaces without scratching, gouging, scraping or otherwise damaging skin. The second bristles are more rigid than the first bristles to more aggressively scrub dirt, microbes or other foreign debris from gaps underneath fingernails. A finger alignment guide adjacent to the stiffer bristles maintains proper alignment between fingernails and the stiffer bristles so that the bristles enter gaps underneath the fingernails when the fingers are moved in a back and forth motion.
