Filed:
Nov 16, 2010
Appl. No.:

Inventors:
Benjamin L. Scheckel - Stoughton WI, US
Bradley A. Smith - Madison WI, US

US Classification:
96405, 96408, 96412, 55314, 55417, 55423, 55425
Abstract:
Disclosed are coalescer systems for coalescing a liquid phase dispersed in a gas phase. The disclosed systems include a filter element which, when installed in the system, contacts and moves a valve to an open drainage position to permit flow of liquid through the system. In the disclosed systems, the filter element and valve also are configured such that under excess pressure conditions the valve permits the gas phase to bypass filter media of the filter element. In particular, the disclosed coalescer systems may be utilized in a CV system in order to remove oil mist from gas in the CV system.

Inventors:
Barry M. Verdegan - Stoughton WI, US
Howard E. Tews - Beloit WI, US
Roger L. Zoch - McFarland WI, US
Bradley A. Smith - Madison WI, US

Assignee:
CUMMINS FILTRATION IP INC. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
B01D 19/02
US Classification:
96178
Abstract:
A gas-liquid rotating coalescer includes first and second sets of one or more detent surfaces on a rotary drive member and a driven annular rotating coalescing filter element which engagingly interact in interlocking mating keyed relation to effect rotation of the coalescing filter element by the rotary drive member. Designated operation of the coalescer requires that the coalescing filter element include the second set of detent surfaces. A coalescing filter element missing the second set of detent surfaces will not effect the noted designated operation.
