Control Circuit For Sensor Array And Related Methods

US Patent:
7591165, Sep 22, 2009
Filed:
Mar 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/392210
Inventors:
Thomas Papakostas - Larissa, GR
Charles Malacaria - Medfield MA, US
Boris Dubinsky - Newton MA, US
Assignee:
Tekscan Incorporated - South Boston MA
International Classification:
G01R 27/28
US Classification:
73 159, 324616, 702100, 702104
Abstract:
A control circuit for scanning a pressure or force responsive sensor array is disclosed. Pressure or force sensors formed of an array of pressure or force responsive sensor elements can be used to acquire pressure or force measurements in response to an applied load. The control circuit can sample signals from the sensor elements to detect the pressure or force at one or more sensor elements of the sensor array. The circuit herein may provide for relatively faster scan rates. A user may define a subset or subsets of sensor elements of the sensor array to be scanned. Various methods and related circuitry for adjusting for sensor characteristics are also disclosed.

Heater Unit Humidification Chamber Monitor

US Patent:
8511651, Aug 20, 2013
Filed:
Mar 29, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/074434
Inventors:
Mikhail Fridberg - Sharon MA, US
Boris Dubinsky - Newton MA, US
Assignee:
Smiths Medical ASD, Inc. - Rockland MA
International Classification:
B01F 3/04
US Classification:
261142, 2611211, 219442, 2194431, 2194461, 21944811, 21944812, 12820327, 12820417
Abstract:
A heater unit is adapted to determine if a humidification chamber thermally coupled to a hot plate of the heater unit is effectively dry based on determining a thermal response of a hot plate of the heater unit. Also, the activation period during which the hot plate is being heated is adjusted toward an optimum period by adjusting the energization or power level to the heater element thereof in relation to the duration of a prior activation period. Further, the air flow rate of gas through the humidification chamber may be estimated based on a temperature of the hot plate determined in predetermined relationship to the beginning of an activation period.
