Philosophy:
Dr Balme is a board certified orthopedic surgeon with over 40 years experience, specializing in joint replacement surgery. He uses a variety of treatments to help alleviate symptoms prior to considering surgery. If symptoms do not respond, Dr Balme will discuss with the patient the benefits and risks of surgery and the expected post-op course. By treating joint conditions and performing reconstructive/restorative surgery, patients regain strength and mobility.
Dr Balme completed an undergrad degree at Yale University. After a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, he pursued his MD at Yale Medical School. After his internship and a year of general surgery at OHSU, Dr Balme served 2 years in the US Navy.
Dr Balme joined Adventist Health after serving the Klamath Falls area for over 37 years. He has volunteered his expertise in South Africa, Honduras, Cambodia, and Central City Concern in Portland. Dr Balme has 2 grown children and enjoys fishing and traveling with his wife.
