Window Closure Mechanism

US Patent:
5219195, Jun 15, 1993
Filed:
Mar 30, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/859908
Inventors:
Barry G. Lawrence - Thomasville NC
International Classification:
E05B 300
US Classification:
2923363
Abstract:
A closure mechanism for awnings and casement windows includes a flush, pivotal handle with a release mounted in a recessed housing. By depressing the release the handle is pivoted outwardly where it can be easily grasped by the user. Upon closing the window, depressing the handle allows the window to be tightly closed and latched within the frame as the handle is locked into a flush position on the window frame by a pawl which is resiliently urged into a notch in the handle within the housing.

Framed Window Screen And Connector

US Patent:
8028489, Oct 4, 2011
Filed:
Jan 7, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/683464
Inventors:
Barry G. Lawrence - Thomasville NC, US
International Classification:
E04C 2/38
US Classification:
526567, 526565, 5220457, 5220458
Abstract:
A framed window screen formed from four (4) rails which each include a channel, a wide groove and a narrow groove and are each cut at a forty-five degree (45°) angle at the terminal ends. A durable, sturdy corner connector joins each rail one to another, which may be molded from a durable polymeric material having an L-shaped member, a groove support and a stanchion. The groove support is V-shaped and joined to the L-shaped member by a rib. Each end of the L-shaped member of the connector is inserted into adjacent rail channels with the groove support positioned in the wide grooves of the adjacent rails. Once the screen frame is assembled using the connectors, a suitably cut screen wire can be placed over the frame with the edges proximate the narrow groove whereby a rubber seal is inserted to maintain the screen in the narrow groove by friction.

Locking Window Device

US Patent:
7000957, Feb 21, 2006
Filed:
Dec 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/728318
Inventors:
Barry G. Lawrence - Thomasville NC, US
International Classification:
E05C 3/04
US Classification:
292241, 292DIG 7, 292DIG 20, 292DIG 35, 292DIG 47
Abstract:
An improved locking device for sash-type windows is provided. The locking device includes a keeper defining an internal or keeper cavity, a housing defining first and second tier-recess combinations, a solid cam rotatively positioned within the first tier-recess combination, and a washer positioned between the housing interior and the flat top portion of the cam. The second tier-recess combination, or keeper recess, is defined by at least a portion of the housing that engages the keeper, such that the keeper is nestable within (wholly or partially enclosed by) the second tier-recess combination. Attempting to force the cam past the keeper cavity when the locking mechanism is locked results in the distribution of the force across the surface area of the keeper recess. The first tier-recess combination further defines an aperture for mounting a handle to engage and operate the cam.
