Ubiquitous Navbar User Interface Across Multiple Heterogeneous Digital Media Devices

Ubiquitous Navbar User Interface Across Multiple Heterogeneous Digital Media Devices

US Patent:
2007018, Aug 9, 2007
Filed:
Jan 3, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/649351
Inventors:
Barrett Morgan - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715779000
Abstract:
A method of providing a ubiquitous navigation and program guide user interface that is common across a heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices. A navbar user interface persistently displays across a topmost portion of a display for each of the heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices when the digital media device is operating in a mode other than a full screen display of digital media content. The navbar user interface presents a limited set of icons associated with a navigation and media guide user interface for different kinds of digital media content and device operations that are common across the heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices. The navbar user interface is operated in a scrolling manner to display and select a navigation and media guide interface for a desired one of the different kinds of digital media content and device operations by selecting an associated one of the limited set of icons. Upon selection of the desired kind of digital media content, the navigation and media guide interface for the desired one of the different kinds of digital media content is displayed in a grid format that is consistent across the heterogeneous multitude of digital media devices.

Digital Content Delivery Via Virtual Private Network (Vpn) Incorporating Secured Set-Top Devices

Digital Content Delivery Via Virtual Private Network (Vpn) Incorporating Secured Set-Top Devices

US Patent:
2007019, Aug 16, 2007
Filed:
Jan 3, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/649331
Inventors:
Barrett Morgan - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/445, H04N 7/173, G06F 3/00, G06F 13/00
US Classification:
725051000, 725039000, 725110000, 725112000
Abstract:
A method and system for delivering digital content to a multitude of set-top devices that are purchased by consumers and connected to the Internet as part of a virtual private network (VPN) provides more efficient and secure distribution of digital content such as movies, television, music, games and other digital media. Each set-top device is secured by using a mass storage device to store digital content that is partitioned into a consumer portion and a VPN portion. Unlike traditional computers that can access digital content on the Internet with browser interfaces running on computer displays, the set-top devices have limited operating system access with no browser interfaces and are designed to be operated by the consumer from a navigation and program guide user interface displayed on a digital media device.

Household Network Incorporating Secure Set-Top Devices

US Patent:
2008028, Nov 13, 2008
Filed:
Jan 8, 2008
Appl. No.:
11/971040
Inventors:
Barrett Morgan - Salt Lake City UT, US
International Classification:
